Stopped in here for Mother’s Day yesterday because this used to be my Mommy’s favorite place to dine when I was a child. It is difficult to make reservations or let alone get someone on the phone without being asked to hold on more than 5-6 times. We arrived at the restaurant around 530pm on a Sunday our Waiter was a guy named Gabe. Nice guy. We all Placed our orders and requested a couple drinks, my mom had the lemon drop she liked but she is a light weight anyway and I had a blue mf which was horrible but garnished nicely. After 10 minutes Gabe comes back to inform me that the kitchen has run out of chicken and that there won’t be any done for another hour. I wish you could have seen the extreme disappointment on my Mommy’s face. This made me upset. Nonetheless she was a champ and ordered a pork chop as a substitute. My order on the other hand consist of no meat and it was all supposed to come out at once. I had a garden salad, corn bread, broccoli and Greek potatoes. When everyone’s food came out all i received was corn bread and a salad. I assumed that Gabe was going to bring the rest as I finished my salad but as I finished my salad I began to get full so I asked him where were the other items that I had ordered and he says what other items did you order??? I was speechless so I had to remind him of our previous discussion and he put them in, I immediately had him cancel it because again I was full off the salad and cornbread. The bill wasn’t that bad I believe it was about $145 plus they add 18% gratuity. I felt a bit cheated because with the lack of food that came out we should have been given at 20-30% off the bill for these inconveniences especially on the account that our waiter just plain and simply forgot. Place has good ambiance though. Bar is perfect for a date with drinks and small Portions and the food was good.
To the person responding. If you really did care this post was added A YEAR AGO! Apparently you don’t know that if you go back and make edits like I did it makes the review seem like it posts the same day that it was edited. Apparently you don’t know how to use google and obviously you weren’t working there when GABE was employed here last year. I implore you to utilize your resources before you try insulting your former...
Read moreThis was a special occasion to celebrate my mom birthday after the passing of her son, my only sibling a few weeks ago. We wanted to have a small gathering since my daughter was in town from NY. My mom decided to go to Carson’s Ribs, I have been to Carson’s Ribs many years ago many times when they were in Edgewater and downtown near LaSalle many years ago. They are now located in a beautiful spot near the river downtown Chicago . This restaurant location is so beautiful, on the inside it’s cozy and elegant. The back of the restaurant is called the River Room the windows open and you have views of the Chicago River, Sit and dine with family with white tablecloths and dim lighting such a beautiful spot. I sopke to the manger Nancy to set up our reservations and she made sure we had the river room after explaining the circumstances and I wanted it the be a nice special celebration for my mom. Our waiter Dan was absolutely amazing he was funny and on point with our orders and his service! He made sure we had everything we needed and even brought out the cake we brought with extra plates and forks, so we could sing happy birthday. The food was absolutely delicious we had a variety of dishes. The garden salad was the greatest especially the homemade Croutons and flavorful Italian dressing really made my the salad robust taste, so good! We ordered the slab of ribs with twice baked potatoes and au gratin potatoes. Half Greek chicken which was tender with delicious lemon and herbs delicious with Greek potato es. Mediterranean Shrimp And Dejonene Shrimp or nice jumbo size they were very delicious as well. Beef brisket sandwich was tender and delicious too! All our food was delicious and we really enjoyed everything from the beautiful atmosphere, the service and the food. The manager of evening came to check on us several times throughout the evening to see how we were doing and if we needed anything that was very nice to have him do that. It was a perfect night for a special occasion during this difficult time in our family. Thank you everyone at Carons for a night to remember especially Dan for being such a...
Read moreMy parents were here from out of state, and went Carson’s to celebrate my Dad’s birthday in April of this year. They loved it so much, and had exceptional service by Cervando. Unfortunately, we did not receive the same service for my birthday last Friday, July 26th. We had a party of 12 and our server Dan, was exceptionally bad. The first thing that caught my attention was that he literally dropped a handful of straws on the first table, then proceeded to drop AND toss the second set of straws on the second table. Smiling while doing it and walked away. The second thing was that while beginning to take our order, my Parents and my big brother specifically asked him to take my order first. He did not, and kept stating that he had a process and to trust him. Needless to say, there was no process. He blatantly ignored my family’s request. Later on, My Mom asked about how long we should expect our food, and he said whenever it’s done. That infuriated me and my Dad. While mingling with the rest of my family and some were not even present at our table, Dan decides to walk up with the birthday brownie/ice cream and started the birthday song with No One’s attention and I was not in my seat. These are just a few things. We were cordial and did not report/demand that he was replaced immediately, for the sake of how it would affect everyone there, the rest of our evening, how far they travelled to help celebrate my birthday (100 miles round trip) and to keep the peace. But after this experience, many of the party felt that they would not to come back. The service was disrespectful and uncalled for. The first experience that my parents had, was so grand that they wanted us all to have the same experience. Everyone agreed that the food was amazing and the ambiance was lovely to me as well. However this type of behavior and service ruined the experience and as I mentioned, some will not return.. at least not any time soon. We spent close to 1k and it did not feel worth it with treatment that we received. I’m not sure what can be done to correct this, but such an amazing place has left a bad taste...
