For those interested in purchasing a unit in this building, I would suggest renting first. First, the things that I personally experienced and second, the positive things that some people may enjoy.
This building is very old. It has constant air coming in and out of it. You will get wind gusts that go into your unit. You will also hear creaking as if you were on a yacht in your unit. You can hear the people upstairs and you can hear the people on each side of you and across from you. There is no concrete in the ceilings. The management here is old and complacent. They do not like change. The parking is A safety issue. Valet pulls up to the door that allows people who own a spot in the building to park. It is constantly blocked. Their solution was to go in the outdoor, which has almost caused accidents from those trying to leave the parking garage. Something so easy to fix that would cost nothing is still happening.
You are next to Navy Pier which brings lots of noise, lots of foot traffic. It is difficult getting out of the parking garage on the weekends and during the holidays as cars are backed up on Grand Avenue. Since their concepts are still from the 1960s, your packages will not be available for pick up until 24 hours after they’ve been delivered. You can ask for it sooner, but their policy is that it has to be entered into the system, and since everyone is ordering everything online these days, they do not have enough help. One man for the entire building for packages. It was recommended that they hire someone part-time, but they did not like that recommendation. They are not happy when you try to make things better for the residents that live there and are paying dues. I think they forget that they are working for us.
Finally, with the windows surrounding your unit, it gets very cold. You will need to keep the blinds down in order to keep some of the warmth in. Also, the boxes that allow air into the unit are not sealed properly and so air comes in and so you are basically wasting electricity when you do turn the heat on. And as far as the summer, it is 10° hotter in the unit because of the windows. You will be running more of your air conditioning.
Now on a positive note. If you love a lake view, it is a great Lake view. You can walk to the lake as it is across the street. There is a post office in a few good restaurants close by. And there are some parking garages for your relatives and friends that would like to visit that can use SpotHero.
If you can rent before you buy, it would be better as you would really know what it would be like to live In...
Read moreI would have given five stars especially since the general manager Jim Stecko could've been nicer, however his employees, the doormen Rich and Kenny are very rude and unpleasant to engage with.
I walked into the building said hello to everyone at the desk and stated that I'm here to show a unit and Rich exact words to me were "me put your car in the garage" no hello at all just an evil look on his face barking orders. Maybe that's his natural look, I do not know and I do not care.
What I do know especially with 24 years of management under my belt, Rich would have been terminated along time ago. Jim the general manager was standing right there and did not say a word. Which led me to believe he's either afraid of these thug acting, suppose to be professional doorman or he's an enabler of they're toxic unprofessional behavior. I've dealt with a lot of doormen in this Chicago and they all have been very pleasant and helpful unlike these thugs at Lake Point Tower who are the worst of the worst.
My client and I spoke to several guest about the building and they all stated, they love the building and amenities except for the doormen Rich and Kenny. That speaks volumes. Moving forward I will discourage any and all clients to not buy or rent in...
Read moreI’m sorry but we went to look at a unit here and the door men were absolute horrors. They made us feel like we shouldn’t be there. Would not let us park unless we parked in the garage for 26 dollars. We were touring an apartment to potentially move in and to be treated like that and made to pay that to see an apartment to rent, by the doormen and yelled at and told absolutely no move you car no (entire 1/4 mile circle drive was empty) turned us off the place completely. I just waved off the leasing agent and said when they get a better attitude maybe I’ll tour again. Lol jk. Worst experience for such a stunning apartment that we could have actually just paid...
