Excellent sci-fi, fantasy, mystery and history selection! Their sci-fi section is the largest I've seen in a used bookstore 📚 Childrens and YA are grouped together and I find mixing books for 5 year olds with books for teenagers to be a weird choice. The pickings are sparse compared to other used bookstores I've been to, which I'm assuming is why they put them together 📚 I wish they filed modern classics on their classics shelf instead of in general fiction (right now, their classics shelf appears to all be from ancient civilizations like Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire) 📚 Book conditions range from like brand new to visible wear on the covers and spines 📚 Most prices are half of the original selling price, but I've seen a few in-print comics that were being sold for only $1 less than the original price, so make sure to look up prices! Some of the original prices are blacked out, which I personally find a little sus, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the books came to the store in...
Read moreThe only reason this review is getting two stars and not one is because this establishment does have a great selection of used hardcovers at decent pricing.
I have two issues with this place. First, their inventory management and customer service are quite poor. I asked if they had several books and they told me they weren't sure. They were only able to tell me which sections they might be under. Plus, they didn't even bother to ask me if I required some assistance even though they had multiple people at the counter who were standoffish and grumpy. Second, this establishment makes their political stance quite clear, to the point where it becomes offensive. I have no problem with taking pride in your value system and beliefs; however, do not denigrate others who have differing opinions. For me, bookstores represent reservoirs of knowledge and ideas, an oasis for others who value thought and understanding. It's sad that this place promotes anger and rage over open-mindedness...
Read moreAn excellent selection of high quality used books and thus at low prices. They can order any book you like, and can also provide research advice and recommendations. It includes a reading cafe upstairs and a record store downstairs and also sells games and puzzles. The mainstay is clearly books books books. Has a good selection of foreign language books especially language learning books. It's basically one of the best used book stores on earth, really. I found a very good old norse textbook there, for one example of how obscure yet high quality it is. I have also found other good books there, notably history though they cover ALL subjects. They have a bargain rack of dollar books but these are ALSO generally of very high quality. Much better than the usual big box chain bookstores because of the wider selection which goes in greater depth and their ability to research and recommend books and authors as well as prompt special orders. I never worked there just a VERY...
