I havenāt visited this Niagara Falls Hobby Lobby location for quite some time, I always enjoy browsing throughout the store when I get the chance to visit. I will be honest, I was a little disappointed at the woman working at the fabric section, Darlene, as well as the availability of art supplies. Last time I visited there was almost anything you could imagine available, several aisles full of well known brands & supplies. This time there wasnāt much available, I miss seeing the great selection but sadly understand if they needed to change in order to adapt to the times/what sells at the end of the day.
My experience shopping today was great, up until the end of my shopping time when I decided to buy some fabric for an art project. Darlene, the woman working the fabric section of Hobby Lobby was extremely unfriendly & rude toward me. She was standing at the fabric counter when I greeted her & politely asked if she may cut a yard of fabric off from two different samples, & 4 yards of duck canvas from one of the samples on the floor bin. She looked at me like I was bothering her & then told me to show her which rolls they were with an attitude. I told her the last roll was on the floor & asked if I could bring it over to the counter & she was very abrupt & told me that the whole point of them being there was so I could bring it over. I very rarely buy fabric, & have never bought any from Hobby Lobby before. I told her that I wasnāt sure of the storeās policies & didnāt want to assume that I could take the roll without letting an employee know in advance or if they had to grab it themselves. While she was cutting my 4 yards of duck canvas, what I assume to be her friend or a Hobby Lobby employee off the clock came over & started to talk to her. Darlene gave this woman an annoyed look when she was cutting the fabric I requested & then they presumed to talk about how someone they know or work for is a derogatory term & complaining about said topic. She was calculating my total $ owed for my fabric as she was continuing to talk to the other woman.
I honestly felt like I was being such an inconvenience to her, despite there being no other customers in the fabric section at the time. Darlene was very condescending towards me & brushed me off as being in the way of having a conversation with her friend or whoever she was. She was complaining about her week, the customers, her work schedule, & her boss, as well as inappropriate things that should not be mentioned in front of customers/public ears. I should have walked away & bought the fabric from Jo-Ann fabrics, Iām sure an associate working there would have been much more helpful & cordial towards me & my purchase. I understand if an employee is having a bad day, because letās face it, we all do from time to time. I also understand if it was a long day or week for her & she was at her wits end but that doesnāt justify treating a customer in such an inconsiderate manner. I have worked customer service for 4 years, have dealt with some pretty distasteful people & situations. I never would go out of my way to be so rude towards my customer, especially when they did nothing to warrant such a response.
Hobby Lobby, please do better & avoid hiring those with such horrible attitudes/social skills! This interaction really put a sour taste in my mouth about visiting the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsed to be the go to spot for supplies no matter your political view due to the fact they are like one of the only places in town. Now that they have gotten rid of the 40% coupon from their app which would make it worth your time to check them out due the price gouging on items. Your now left to focus on the weekly sale which is half the items are on sale and then the following week the other half of the store would be on sale. This is still the case now, so I am not hip to going in and fi ding out what I want is 100 dollars and next week it will be 50, the old coupon would save u this hassle and you only had to pay the 10% difference. Myself I don't have time to go every week to see what is on sale this week or next. Recommend finding a small business that fits your needs rather than this big chain store which will take care of you. Because in the end they have to follow cooperate rules and can't bend to the customers always right.
Definitely don't use their framing service it may sound like or be a deal but they are assemblers really. They measure your items and send out for the supplies that get pre cut off site so the employees just assemble it with no liability on their end. If your item gets damaged their responsibility ends with the price of the frame and you will have damaged art and arguing with the manager. If it's just a photo or something easily replaced say under 100 bucks it could be worth the shot...but don't leave anything with them drop it off when the frame is ready don't leave it there for 2 weeks raising your chances they will accidently loose or damage your item. Again small business may cost a little more but you will be much happier with some one that has the experience rather than "Jim " the 20 year old down the...
