Unfortunately my residence in Rochester View Apts. in Henrietta, N.Y. 14467 isn't on the RTS bus stop on the city bus lines after the RTS bus stop has had been removed in the year of 2015 as well as my RVA Propert manager has had told me while moving in to RVA in a fact. Reminder that I am the congenitally deaf senior who is 67 years old but now retired as I cannot drive nor having NYS driver's license as I am Non-Driver in all of rest of life. For 33 years, I live here in the area of Rochester, N.Y. as the long-term resident in much experiences in milestone. In my honestly, I really have seen several bus drivers who shoved me away while heading toward the gate to catch my bus-being rude and disrespectful to me as the innocent deaf older mature adult who almost fell onto the floor in Transit Center, and then the Customer Service in Transit Center seemed not to help me over issues via my written notes in my very good English language skills in communication skills as they usually led to communication breakdowns as I usually became frustrated. Other RTS officials and staff members still haven't understood about deafness, deaf culture, deaf world, deaf rights under ADA, and largest deaf & hard-of-hearing Community that speak in sign language in the area of Rochester, N.Y. In a fact I am the well-educated Gallaudent University graduate in my Class of 1981 and the member of NAD ( National Association of the Deaf) since my joint on June 1982. On January 2016 all of RVA residents signed up on the pettiton to suggest to RTS officials to establish the RTS bus shelter with the RTS bus stop in opposition to RVA on West Henrietta, RD. ; Henrietta, N.Y. 14467. Then the RTS officials finally turned it down without any of reasons. Well I honestly have seen that most of RVA residents have deafness in addition of mental Health issues, blindness, and other disabilies all, are Non-Drivers including me. Instead they use the alternative transportation and RTS ACCESS Shuttles to be pick-up in front of RVA as I use the RTS ACCESS Shuttles to go in anywhere in the area of Rochester, N.Y. including University of Rochester Medical Center for having my appts. with my doctors and doing my shoppings at TOPS Supercenters and others so there. Educating the public and the RTS about deafness, deaf awareness, deaf rights, ADA, sign language ( ASL= American Sign Language) and having good & kind manners to be respectful toward our deaf bus passagers in either Transit Center or board any RTS buses are Very Important as I highly recommend at specific point of the clear view in concern....
Read moreIt’s warm in the winter. Cool in summer. the restroom is not as bad as some reviews state. 👁’ve seen way worse in restaurants. Seating is limited but present. The busses run normally but the busses arrive to and leave from stops early. That’s a transit NoNo. A few minutes late is better than 90 seconds early. Certain drivers then pull to the curb to get back on schedule; which makes it seem as though the route is going as scheduled. 👎🏿. What about the person that was getting to the stop 30 seconds ahead of time? I’ve been that person that has had to watch a bus pass by my stop SEVERAL times. Today; Jan 31 2019; the driver arrived at the VA stop 4 minutes early and left 3 minutes early but then waited just across the street for 5 minutes to get back on time. 🤦🏾♂️. Also she began to pull away from the stop before I could take 2 steps toward the back. YO! Disabled Vet here! Show some respect and what’s your hurry anyway? You’re early. Positively , coming up short , due to the random Canadian coin i has not been a problem in several occasions. That is a plus 1* positive. 🙏🏿 Update: February 28, 2019 1420pm. Two elderly women were exiting the vehicle. One of them was using a walking device. She became troubled with the task of exiting the vehicle. The male African American driver jumped from his seat ( he didn’t stand. He jumped into action) to assist the woman. Kudos. Tip of my hat. Salute. EYE believe the bus number was 505. At least that number was posted...
Read moreThere is a lot of loitering, criminal behavior, bums, drunks, junkies, and "women of the evening" at this place most of the time. Often, guests endure a barrage of self-talking, rude schizophrenics, babbling to anyone in earshot about both nothing and everything at the same time. There's also plenty of ignorant, oblivious urban Gen-Alpha wannabe influencers, getting in everyone's way while they try to upload video selfies to TikTok. Because this is so, there is often an even less desirable component - a heavy police presence. The water fountains here were turned off during COVID and remain so. The bathrooms are so disgusting I am afraid to catch gonorrhea, or worse, from using them, and half the time they are closed anyway while the understaffed crew tries to clean it up. There was a murder here recently, too, in broad view. Unfortunately, going through this place is a necessity I would prefer to avoid. Despite this quagmire sanitarium, RTS workers do the best they can with limited resources to keep the buses going on time and encourage the riffraff...
