Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church — Attraction in City of Watertown

I've been a member of this church for about seven years. I was also cresmated there. Unfortunately this church is crumbling due to the lack of welcome from the older members. There is no permanent priest that comes on a regular basis. The older members are rude and have a sense that they own the place to themselves and not to welcome new members. There is no sense community there whatsoever. I'm never ever coming back and don't recommend. There is one lady that has been a member of this church for seventy years and he is ABSOLUTELY RUDE. She has said things to other members and hurt their feelings and doesn't apologize. No one does anything about it and are totally passive and allow her to be that way. Sadly, it isn't what it once was. The priest is gone, so services are sporadic at best. The older members essentially gatekeep the church and newer members are not encouraged or welcomed. There is no spirit of community and the older members get upset when visiting priests don't do things the way they like, or if they attempt to help in any way. The building is falling apart and the outside reflects the state of decay within. There are dog feces everywhere and my husband found a crack pipe beneath a tree in the back. If you are new to Orthodoxy, there is a church in Potsdam and another in Syracuse. Good luck...
