Bear with me for a few minutes and you may even decide to travel across States to come to this dealership and meet Kerwin Gonzalez!
Before coming to West Chester Toyota, Iâve been to two other dealerships and searching close to a month for a car. The 1st dealership tried to sell me a Toyota CHR 2019 XLE for around $19k, even though it had 78k miles and 4 reported accidents. Tried to meet them at $17k (cash) and spent over an hour trying to negotiate. However, they wouldnât budge, and after a very specific moment of rudeness and arrogance towards my uncle from what seemed like the manager, I didnât want to do business with them and simply left. And to save you the long trip, the 2nd dealership tried to sell me a $23.5k Toyota (same model, before taxes) with complete disregard that the car had MULTIPLE scratches around and inside the car and a noticeable dent on the front right side of the car. When the sells person said âoh you noticed thatâ, internally I thought âoh, you wasnât planning on bringing that to my attention?â. However, I still liked the car and was somewhat okay with the dent, but not for $23.5k. So, after two hours and no willingness to drop the price, we also left. No disrespect, if that specific Toyota CHR is sold without a REASONABLE discount, whoever buys it is getting robbed in bright daylight- STAY AWAY!
Now letâs get down to West Chester Toyota and the man that finally made it happen!
After two failed attempts and nearly a month of searching for a Toyota CHR in/near Philadelphia, I was close to giving up and looking for a Honda Accord since that seems to be in abundance and close by. But man, my mind was completely set on finding this particular car (CHR XLE) and at a reasonable/fair price! So, I decided to spend one last time searching, which led me to finding a 2021 Toyota CHR XLE w/only 24.5k miles and Toyota certified gold w/4 years of remaining warranty. At first, I thought the distance from Philadelphia to Yonkers NY (2.5hrs drive) was a gamble I was hesitant on making. Instead, I called ahead and told them straight up where I was in terms of price, and if they could meet me at/around that price, I will make the trip up to Yonkers NY. While specific negotiations via call arenât standard practice, after speaking with Carolina Ruiz, I felt somewhat confident this would be the final destination for my car buying journey.
And long story short: left Philadelphia 7AM, got to the dealership by ~10:30AM, and was instantly greeted by Kerwin G! Introduced each other, gave us a tour of the car, test drove it, he answered all my questions, gave off better âvibes/energyâ than the 1st two dealers, and was extremely patient with me and my mom from the moment we got there til the time we left (3pm). While at first we were $4k apart from agreement, Kerwin went to bat for us and finally met at a price we were comfortable with. Even though I thought this would be another failed attempt, I will confidently say it felt like Kerwin did all he could to finally get us to close on the car at a REASONABLE price, which I was greatly appreciative for! Didnât felt rushed nor like he lacked understanding/empathy of my car buying situation!
In sum, Iâm glad we made the trip to this specific dealership and got to work with Kerwin! With this being my first car, Iâm glad that I got to work with him and finally get the car I wanted! Iâm going to ride this thing out for as long as possible! However, if Iâm ever in the market again, I will definitely be checking back in with Kerwin and West Chester Toyota⌠even if I am a few...
Read moreI asked my coworker and friend about getting a used car to purchase, and she told me to buy only from a reputable Certified used car dealer. I immediately googled "Certified used car dealer in Westchester County". Westchester Toyota was the first one that popped up. I had never purchased a car in my before, so I started praying and asking God to assist međđ I clicked on the link and started scrolling. My friend told me to search for Toyotas or Hondas because of reliability. Upon scrolling, I saw a red car with low mileage that was in the range of my budget. I screenshot it and forwarded it to both of my sons for their opinion. They both responded with approval, and the older one went on the site and did a further search, on the said red car that I sent them. When I got home, we made an inquiry and got a response to schedule an appointment to come into the dealership. However, the day before the appointment, my son informed me that the car we were interested in was sold. He said we should cancel the appointment. I said to him, "God has something better for us, so we're keeping the appointment". We got to the dealership, and we were greeted by a young man with the most beautiful disposition. He introduced himself as Anthony Ynoa. politely invited us to come inside, where he offered us water or coffee. He asked us what was our reason for coming to the dealership. We proceeded to let him know that our intention was to purchase a certified used car with low mileage at a reasonable price. He took us on the outside and showed us a car and gave us the stats on it and ask us if we wanted to test drive it. We accepted and went out on Central Park Avenue for a spin. When we got back to the dealership, he gave us the printout of the carfax and went over all the important parts of what it entailed to purchase that particular car. We all came to the conclusion that it was not in our budget. He understood our reasoning; and wasn't forceful, hasty, or rude. He then said he was going to speak to his boss about another vehicle that came in earlier that week, but wasn't posted yet. We sat there for a few minutes, and Anthony came back beaming, and with smile, said; "today is your lucky day" I said to him, I don't believe in luck, because I don't pray to a genie. I believe in blessings and favor". He went and retrieved the other car, told us the price, which was even lower than the one we saw on the website. We went out and test drove that one as well, and simultaneously, me and my boys approved it. We all decided that this car was the one. We went back inside and was given the carfax and the information about the car and initiated the buying process. Anthony Ynoa exceeded our expectations on his professionalism and patience with us. He listened to our fears and empathize with my son, who had a horrible experience from a previous car dealership in the Bronx. He took his time with us and, even though it was getting late, he never rushed us, or forced us to purchase something above our means with some unrealistic pricing. We drove off the lot with a car that was in our budget, very well maintained, with only one previous owner, and not an over top mileage. My prayers was answeredđđ˝ I highly recommend Westchester Toyota for their par excellence service and Anthony Ynoa as an exemplary employee. Thank you...
Read moreI recently visited Westchester Toyota with the intent of purchasing a 2023 Honda Accord Sport L. Unfortunately, my experience with the dealership, specifically with salesperson Carlos Romero, was disappointing and left me with concerns about the business practices being followed.
Initial Impressions and Pricing Upon arrival, I was given a verbal quote that included my trade-in vehicle, setting the price at $22,000. However, when negotiations progressed, I was informed that the price had increased to $23,800 with my trade-in. This sudden price change raised initial concerns but, despite the unexpected adjustment, I continued with the process.
Push for Down Payment What truly concerned me was the salesperson's insistence on obtaining a down payment before discussing any of the key details surrounding my financing options. When I requested information on what my monthly payments would be, I was told that I had to provide a down payment first before the bank could determine the monthly payment structure. This method is highly unorthodox. Itâs industry standard to provide customers with full transparency on potential financing costs before taking any payments.
When I expressed my desire to understand if I could realistically afford the monthly payments, I was repeatedly urged to "not worry about it" and to simply provide the down payment. This approach lacked the level of transparency and customer care I expect from a dealership.
Pressure Regarding Insurance Another red flag during my visit was the salespersonâs rush to add the vehicle to my insurance policy. Rather than allowing me to conveniently add the vehicle through the Progressive app (which I have used without issue in the past), I was instructed to call them directly. The urgency and specific request for a phone call rather than using an app that I trust was concerning, and it added to the overall stress of the transaction. It felt like there was an unnecessary rush to finalize things before I had clarity on important details.
Final Decision Ultimately, due to the pressure and lack of transparency, I decided to walk away from the deal. While I had expressed that I needed more time and clarity on the financials, the salesperson seemed intent on moving forward, even after I provided reasons for not being able to proceed. This behavior left me feeling stressed, uncomfortable, and uncertain about the dealership's practices. I had to make an excuse regarding my bank account being blocked just to exit the situation peacefully.
Conclusion While I had hopes for a straightforward and professional experience, the lack of transparency, pressure tactics, and sudden price increase led me to believe that this dealership is not committed to providing customers with the best possible service. A reputable dealership should focus on transparency, customer comfort, and ethical business practicesâunfortunately, my experience here did not reflect those values.
I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience, particularly with the sales approach of Carlos Romero. I suggest any potential buyers proceed with caution and ensure that all financial terms are clear before making any...
