Lights On Design — Local services in City of Yonkers

I’ve purchased items from Glen for my last 2 homes and never had an issue with him. Until last Thursday.... I went in with my three and a half y/o granddaughter to simply replace a Minka ceiling light glass dome which I purchased from him about 2 years ago. She was whiny and trying to wiggle out of my grip and I asked Glen, to ask her to hold my hand. He just stood there staring at my granddaughter. Not a word. I told him I needed to replace the broken dome which I had with me in a box. I know quite well how he feels about children in his store because he badmouthed more than one customer to me in the past. At no time was she out of my grip running rampant. Just whining and trying to let go of my hand. It became more bizarre by the minute. He said “ I thought we were friends....” I have no idea what that meant. Bottom line.... he REFUSED to help me. When I showed him the broken dome, he kept repeating he had no idea what it was and he didn’t carry it. When I told him he sold it to me he said he didn’t know what it was. I asked if he could order it. A blatant NO. I’ve sent many people to him. Never again. He simply could have taken the box and said, let me see what I can do. He is the rudest shop owner I have ever dealt with. Unwarranted and strange. BTW, YOU CAN GET ANYTHING HE HAS ONLINE. SOMETIMES CHEAPER. And please Glen, don’t insult me by saying, wrong store, no one has accused you of being rude, or this didn’t happen. When I left your store I took my granddaughter to Frank Pepe’s. People remarked how well behaved she was. Enough said. Nancy B ADDENDUM: In response to the owner’s claims, my granddaughter remained with me the entire visit and I never cursed at him, let alone with my granddaughter by my side. Rude and a liar. I guess it’s working out...

Paula, who is a residential designer with decades of experience in the industry, was extraordinary to work with. We were in the market for three kitchen island pendants and had been to three other lighting stores while also having scoured Wayfair, etc. Paula immediately had us look at lighting catalogs, explaining that we could get whatever we wanted. As she led us through product, she asked us questions about ceiling height and counter length to determine the proper size. We had questions of our own about matters such as metal color coordination with other metals in our kitchen and differences among manufacturers. Paula answered them carefully and clearly, assisting us in this way with our decisions. How amazing! We had hardly expected this when we walked into the store but there we were, attended to by a professional designer, and at no extra charge. Glen, who is the manager, is also a designer with vast experience in the industry, regularly working with developers in addition to residential and commercial buyers. He was fantastic, too. Delivery time for pick-up at the store is only three business days—faster than online. Pricing is great, no higher than the best deals currently available online. This is the store to go to wherever you are in Westchester...

I always loved going into this store and through the years have bought several pieces there. I went in a couple of months ago and had the most disturbing experience that I have never had in my whole life with the owner Glen. It's what people have described . I am a 60 year old woman, wife, mother, grandmother from the local surroundings.. He was not following and watching me in a friendly helpful way but in an aggressive way and was antagonizing me, raised his voice level and calling me out. "Look at her, she's looking at everything".Another time raised his volume and said she's not buying anything. I have a new home and need ceiling lighting for dining room, living room to match several areas. Wall lighting to match, small paddle ceiling fan for hallway and dressing room areas, large ceiling fan, I do not know why I would be mocked for looking at everything. I never knew him to be like that, but he must have a mean streak or didnt take his medicine . I have never had an experience like that, I was so shocked and surprised I had to process what I had just experienced. I think women shopping alone are not respected and should go accompanied by a man or not at all. Glen you seem to have unprovoked...
