Outrageously expensive repairs. My wife dropped off a simple gold chain to have the latch repaired. This consisted of cutting a link, inserting the loop of the latch and rewelding the link. They price was $75.
When she gave the chain to me she apologized saying she should have asked how much it was going to cost before leaving it there. The last time we had this type of repair done we were charged $20.
I stopped by to see what they would charge to replace a small diamond that has been lost from my wife's wedding ring. The man behind the counter took a look, then said $200-$300. When I asked if he was serious he tried to justify it by saying gold was now over $2,000/oz. Then said he would do it for $250.
We had this done a few years ago, plus retipping all of the prongs for $80!

Read moreI came in to Plum Jewelers for a new halo/vintage setting for my wedding ring and Randy had exactly what I wanted and for a great price. It was important to me to keep all the original components of my current ring and make it work with the new setting. The ring and the diamond band is just stunning and the customer service is top notch. Thank you Randy for everything! I...

The man behind the counter didn’t even give her a chance to ask about it, stating that the stone was clearly fake as soon as he saw the ring. She tried moving on to ask again about maybe getting it fixed, and he continued to insult the ring and its quality. Only then did he give a price to lengthen the prongs, to which my fiancé said no thank you and left.
Unbelievably rude and...
