My daughter was recently admitted to Lutheran Cleveland Clinic. After parking the car, I tried to enter, and assist my wife in making medical decisions about my daughters health. The security was VERY rude, telling me to sanitize my hands, and put on a mask. I politely declined, and they rudely insisted.
This was the SECURITY, trying to force dangerous health fads on me, simply to enter the building. I dont take health advice from security personnel. I insisted being allowed entry, and the front desk called their on call police, who arrived literally within seconds, and they approached me rather aggressively. They refused to allow me to get in to help make medical decisions about my daughters health. They didn't want to listen to my concerns, they just wanted compliance, or to get rid of me.
So, I walked out to the public sidewalk, where I exercised my 1st amendment right to protest the Hospital's terrible policy, for the several hour duration of my daughters stay. The staff called the police, since the police officers at their building seemed helpless to deal with my protest. They even had a staff member pretend to be scared of my protest. The police informed me, and the hospital that I am well within my rights, and left without incident.
Since they did not want to hear me out, while my daughter was in their care, I will state my concerns here:
I am human, and I breathe AIR, pre-mixed by Nature, God, whatever you believe in. I am not adapted to breathing Carbon Dioxide Waste, and I am concerned about creating a warm, moist environment from breathing into a mask, right next to my mouth, nose and eyes. I dont want to wear a petri-dish, ON MY FACE, and I am not willing to compromise my health to please others, nor should I have to.
The use of sanitizer is unhealthy because when you kill all bacteria and viruses, what comes back are the most aggressively breeding agents. It takes a while for a sanitized surface to settle down, and allow for bio-diversity, so you don't get overwhelmed with any single strain of anything, when you inevitably come into contact with the surfaces. I dont want to take that un-necessary risk with my health, and SECURITY has NO RIGHT to force me to make concessions on my health, simply to enter the building.
I will be consulting an attorney about this incident, as I feel I have...
Read moreFacility is good, increased cleanliness is a must. The dietary staff are too notch, food is good. The nursing staff needs a serious attitude adjustment and some major training. I was a nursing supervisor, paramedic, and respiratory therapist for 30+ years before getting seriously injured on the job. I experienced subpar care, dangerous care, and neglect by the nursing staff after surgery. Nurses who could not operate the IV pumps - one issue resulted in vein damage and a black arm and hand for weeks because the antibiotic was pumped in too fast. I have pain and damage to the back of my right hand due to an incorrect IV insertion and then an infiltration - tried to het help but was ignored. Aides removed my IVs - this was a concern. A male nurse in post op didnt want to "waste his time to get a bedpan" (despite a female urine removal system being available) so he used an emesis basin for me to believe my bladder then was angry because I exceeded its capacity - warned him I had a full and painful bladder. He seemed confused at the fact a post surgical patient could have a full bladder - could it have been the 2 plus liters of fluid I was given!?!? I had to beg for a bedside toilet , it arrived 30 min later with it set up for a person of about 6' - at 5' tall and lost hip replacement it was a safety and comfort issue. I couldn't use the shared bathroom because it was dirty, urine remained in the hat for hours, and the aid and nurse refused to remove it. When I asked for toilet paper the aid handed me a wad of tissue - not the roll!!?? Disgusting and unclean but NOT enough to dry oneself. My husband was not informed I was in the room until I called him. An attempt was made to keep me because the nurse did not want to complete the discharge. I had to be persistent with getting the post surgery antibiotics - very frustrating. I did not feel safe, I made it a point to check every drug and every treatment before receiving it. I did not feel that the nursing staff were safe, competent nor caring. Too many errors to feel comfortable...
Read moreThe emergency room doctors treat you as if you’re there for drugs and not help! Both times I was there in a 3 week time frame for my hip dysplasia. They didn’t give me the correct dose of meds I was given the minimum that could be given. They kept telling me it wasn’t my hip after I’ve already been scheduled for a hip replacement for 3 months. I’ve had several X-rays done and tests that they know for a fact I have severe advanced osteoarthritis with hip dysplasia. They refuse to treat me and give me any type of medication to help relieve the pain. I was unable to walk for 18 hours. And they just wanted to know what did I plan on doing? I came there for help because the pain became so bad I couldn’t walk I couldn’t stand. I couldn’t sit. I have dealt with this pain for over two years and it has progressively gotten worse as the time has went on. I was never given any pain medication from any of my doctors as far as primary care except for Tylenol and creams when my bone is rubbing against my other bone, causing all of this pain Then they wanted to tell me that it was my back not my hip. I was never treated so terribly in my entire life like I didn’t matter like my pain wasn’t a valid reason to be there since then they scheduled me with pain management who canceled my appointment because he’s not in only on Wednesdays And has no openings until after my surgery so there’s no point in even getting assistance I think it’s time to look into another hospital Cleveland clinic in general seems very nice, but Lutheran Hospital has some of the worst employees with the...
