My husband had recent heart surgery, where several different types were done and LVAD added to keep his heart pumping. When he was released a caregiver who was a tech took my husband down in a wheel chair. This has always been a standard protocol for hospitals or so I thought. First I had to slowly get to the hospital main clinic entrance as this is also where their valet service is. Once I was at the light of 93rd and Euclid I was looking for the tech and my husband and I couldn't see either of them. When the light turned green and I entered the circle there were two other rows of cars. I noticed my husband who just had open heart surgery, LVAD implantation, bypass surgery, ALONE in his wheelchair taking his feet trying to scoot himself to where I could get to him. I was furious. We were told from the beginning that they would be taking him to his truck. To make sure I got a step so THEY could help him get in the truck. However, no one was there to help. On top of that, I couldn't even get to him. I had to park the truck in the middle of the lanes, go to him, wheelchair him through the two lines of cars and hope we didn't get hit. I got him in the truck and said where did the tech go and he said he just rolled him out, in the damp air and cold weather and left him. Told him to make sure he rolled the wheelchair back to the wall which was quite a distance from where I had to stop the truck. I was extremely upset. I got my husband in the backseat buckled in and I was stressed to the max because he had been left outside in the cold, had no way to really get to him but to park in the middle of all the cars, I was blocking others I know and we were supposed to have someone there to show us how to buckle him in. We got none of that. So while feeling overwhelmed being in the middle I didn't know if we were buckling him in correctly. Then once in I was like what do I do with the wheelchair which is when he said the tech said take it over on the corner folded back up. I was like seriously. I wasn't going to leave it in the middle of this mess of a valet service aka patient discharge area. So I just said I will be right back. So I literally ran the wheelchair to the corner where the tech said to leave it and ran back to the truck. So here's the deal, those who use valet, when they get their cars back from the valet, have someone who comes and gets them, takes them to their vehicle, even helps them in. My husband who was just discharged was left completely alone, in the wet cold air, completely alone for us to get him set up, make sure he was safely secured in the back in case we got hit his chest was safe, at which point I had to leave him in the middle of all these people being helped to their cars by the valet service while I was running a wheelchair chair back so it wouldn't block others or was left for other staff to clean it up. Sadly I noticed this must be the standard and normal protocol for the best hospital in the world because there were several others alone sitting in their wheelchairs waiting on loved ones. Definitely upset over this entire thing. Sadly I asked specifically before all this about discharge. Would I wheel him out and was told by his heart team no we do that but to make sure we either rented a car so he wouldn't have to crawl up in his truck or find a step, which I did. BUT NO ONE WAS THERE, HE WAS PULLING HIS OWN Wheelchair with his feet just so I could see him. UNACCEPTABLE! While most of the staff were wonderful this seems as if patients are just numbers. I would think that for all the magnificent surgeries and the lives they save the patient would be top priority from intake to discharge. I guess that's...
Read moreI have to give this a three star. Today was absolutely crazy there! Filming a movie downtown and there were lines and lines, like around the waterfall!! Absolute craziness!! The staff was holding it together. I told a lady after 25 minutes of sitting in my car I was going to miss my appointment and she lete park my car and make it to my appointment (it was a super important appointment that could not be missed). When I left and paid, I told the very lovely ladies at the checkout office my story, ya know, giving the girl props, and we were able to decipher the be of the individual. At that very moment, the manager was outside the window and they told me to tell him as well. So I did. The manager on duty today, June 25, 2024, should practice a little kindness as opposed to meanness!! CCF, good employees are hid to find and I think that team did a fabulous job today with the hand they were dealt! He could have cared less what I was saying. Anyways, great job CCF Valet service! You...
Read moreWe pulled in the employees gate and felt terrible, but the gate persons voice was extremely understandable and kind...ony wish she was there to direct employee traffic behind us that couldn't back up so neither could we. We were cussed out by some or they just wouldn't even try and move back. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU OPEN THE GATE AND JUST LET US IN...THIS WAS 1ST TIME EVER TO CC and it was very uncomfortable especially for senior citizens. EMPLOYEE Signage was on the wall of the building before the 1st 2 gates we thought other 2 gates were for Visitors..PUT A HUGE SIGN ABOVE THE GATES ON THE EMPLOYEE SIDE and another HUGE SIGN ON THE OTHE SIDE OF THE BUILDING FOR VISITOR PARKING. Thank you so much..we were there 3 days in a row for Testing and may not forget ..but you never know with Senior Citizens 😃 😊 Thank you,...
