
It is a great beach with bike trails, food vendors and nice open grass to play. It's perfect for a relaxing day out in the sun so close to downtown.
The one complaint I have is that swimming is extremely regulated. The life guards do not allow people past a certain point in the water, which barely reaches my knees and is only 90 ft max from the shore. They also had half the beech closed to swims with no obvious reason. The park seems to prioritize boaters over swimmers. Also you can only stay in the water for 45 minutes until there's a 15 minute "safety break". Again the water is only knee deep for adults and basically no waves so it doesn't make much sense. Nice local beach with clean restrooms, small concession stand and plenty a free parking with easy access to the beach/ grassy park area. We started off with a small picnic and then headed over to the shoreline to play around in the water and relax a bit. It wasn’t extremely busy, through Labor Day holiday weekend, on a Friday afternoon it was a lot of families etc enjoying the beach.
