First off, Ashtan was great! He was kind, knowledgable, and did everything he could to make this the best experience possible for us. The problem is that the "Upside Down" room is poorly designed. I have done a few dozen escape rooms, and I love them. In Ashtan's defense, he told us that this room was the most difficult, and the website states the same, but there is a difference between being difficult and fun vs impossible and frustrating. This room is the latter.
There were 2 adults and 3 kids in our party, with varying levels of experience from first time to expert. This room was NOT good for beginners. Everyone had fun in the end, but there is much room for improvement.
There were several correctable issues with this room. For one, there is no clock. So we did not know how much time we had left. The game ended and we did not realize it. Another issue, it was hard to hear the game assistant (Ashtan) unless you were in very specific places. We used walkie talkies in the game, so I did not understand why he did not also have a walkie talkie. More importantly, several of the challenges seemed non-obvious. I will not state which ones as I don't want to give away any spoilers, but having so many head-scratchers in one game was silly. It seems liked Ashtan was feeding us every clue/hint possible and we still did not finish.
Another strange occurrence was an air conditioning system in the room. We thought it was part of the escape room at first but realized they just stashed an AC unit randomly in the room. (Could have used a heads up on that!).
The quality of the game pieces was very good. There were no key locks or combination locks - which was great! And the theme was fun. So it was not a terrible experience. But it would have been more fun with a few changes.
I know this is a fairly new room. I hope that the game designers make improvements to this game so it is more fun. Add a clock!! That's just obvious. Add more hints/clues so we know what to solve. I am open to trying another Cloak and Dagger room. I just hope it is...
Read moreSolved 3 different puzzles and door did not open as it was jammed, wasted at least 5 to 10 minutes each time. One key pad didnt work for the correct code 6 times and another 15 times. When asking for hints they explained what we already tried and it finally worked 10 minutes later. We didnt escape in time when we explained what happened they said they were aware and didnt offer any compensation. We have already talked on the phone. I mentioned that I would've gladly taken another room while we were there. Also mentioned that since I had to make this bad review I will only accept refund to delete our reviews now since it had to get to that point. This phone call was hours before your reply. Guilt trip wont work lol. Also at the end when explaining how at least 4 puzzles didnt work an employee we havent interacted with yet said he knew about 2 being broken. A quick warning wouldve saved us 30 minutes of wasting time and failing our 1st escape room. Not sure why we would want to go back. Ill leave this up for anyone interested in upside room so they know whats up and whats down. Loved the guys hint after we put correct code in 5 times. "You have to physically be upside down" like naw you gotta pay attention then. Edit for the reader, was never offered anything til leaving bad review employees should let you know that you have passed the puzzle if they know somethings wrong with it as admitted by employee. Simply lying is wild when they confirmed broken puzzles. Hopefully its fixed by now, replace your keypads if not. Shouldnt have to re enter the same codes more than once to open things. We were upset because we shouldve had ample extra time for last room. Any other establishment this would never be a problem but here we are communitcating on google reviews haha (as mentioned above we wouldve gladly taken another room as compensation if we didnt have to write bad reviews 1st to...
Read moreDefinitely the worst escape room I’ve done in a while. Staff was unfriendly and timid, like they didn’t want to help you because they can’t answer anything outside of their scripts for each room. It’s easiest room throws so much at you to do at once; you’re supposed to follow in a pattern of each set being done in an order, but you’ll be scratching your head when a simple math puzzle doesn’t add up. Then the game master takes their time to give you hints, burning through almost a full minute to respond to your hand waving. In addition, once a correct puzzle on the board is input, you have to wait almost 30 seconds for the little lights and music to stop. Our GM didn’t explain the inner table having instructions on how to progress after each group of four puzzles was solved, so we were standing around wondering what to do once we finished a set and then nothing happened. A real bummer when we unlocked the second room and knew we had no chance of winning as we had stood around...
