Buffalo Bill Village Gift Shop & Cabins — Attraction in Cody

Early the morning of my stay, my parents and I and my 17 year old son were on the way to Cody, when my son suddenly had a medical emergency and we literally had to call him an ambulance on the side of the road. He ended up at the hospital for the better part of the day before finally being released. I spoke with the manager at this location prior to our check-in time and explained our situation and even offered to email him documentation from the hospital just so he knew I wasn't trying to pull a fast one. He was completely cold about it all and said he'd still be charging me. I realize properties have time limits on cancellations, but sometimes there are genuine events that have to considered case-by-case. This was definitely one of those events. Ironically, the hotel I had scheduled the following night, while also outside their cancellation time limit, the owner I spoke with completely understood the situation and allowed me to cancel without being charged. That's the decent thing to do in this situation. Even Travelocity contacted Buffalo Village Cabins to try and intervene on my behalf considering it was a medical emergency and even they said they had no luck at all with the manager. We stayed in one of the Cabins offered here, and I was a little less than impressed. First, the person who checked us in was kinda rude, and gave us bad directions to our cabin that we had to get corrected. The layout of the cabins is also pretty bad, with some of them situated behind the others, out of sight from the parking area, with no signage. Inside, they were at least clean with comfortable beds, so they got that star. The back bedroom in the cabin is only accessible through the tiny bathroom, so if someone is in there doing their business or taking a shower, the people in the back bedroom are stuck. Luckily, it wasn't hot, and we don't watch much TV because the AC wasn't blowing air when turned on, and the television in the back bedroom isn't visible at all from the bed I was using. Absolute WORST hotel experience I have ever had. Please don’t book a cabin here. The service desk people were the worst I’ve ever dealt with. The pictures on the website were of the Holliday Inn, and then we showed up to our mini cabin with two tiny beds instead of the king size we booked. The keys they gave us weren’t even for the right cabin and we had to go back and find the right keys. Would have given zero...
