I really wish I could give negative stars. This company has no idea what they are doing except for taking peoples money. They will never take any responsibility even on what they sign off on and pass. I had a roof done in 2019 which passed inspections. I then found out that there are multiple layers of shingles on my roof which is illegal. When I contacted them about it they told me to contact the installer. Unfortunately the company is out of business so I call regional building department back. I spoke to Tom Nolan (who truly needs to be removed from his position) who told me that there was nothing they could do even though they signed the final inspection and passed it. I asked if someone could simple come look at the roof as I don't feel like I should be responsible for this and you can easily tell there are multiple layers of shingles. Tom told me they are not allowed to come back out to the house which I know to be false. The lead HVAC inspector, Jack Arrington seems to also be about as incompetent as you can possibly be. I found out recently that he is set to retire in 4 months which is why he doesn't care about doing his job. Similar situation happened here where his inspector signed off on the rough in and final inspection then we find out it is not correct. Once again they say there is nothing they can do. At no point will they ever take responsibility for there short comings. I met with Jay Eenhuis (Deputy Building Official) yesterday and he may have been even worse. I wanted to talk about the constant mistakes and what they plan on doing to which he said they hold NO liability even though they signed off on the jobs. This question was answered with "it always falls on the contractor". Why are you here then? When I asked why they would carry liability insurance if they never need to use it he answered "he didn't think they carried liability insurance" LOLOLOLOLOLOL. At that point I knew I was talking to the tin man from Wizard of Oz (no brains). No one at this company seems to know how to do there jobs which is probably why they gave up on there carriers as contractors and instead went and just took an easy job with the city. I honestly don't know what the purpose of pulling a permit is for if the company who is in place to safeguard customers doesn't know how to do that. There is a reason they have this low of a rating and it is because all they are is modern day tax collectors. Do yourself a favor and just avoid PPRBD at all cost. Side note, look up the history of lawsuites both agains and for PPRBD. All they do is try to bully people around with there in house lawyer so they never have to take responsibility for there actions. Please keep an eye on local news as we will be setting up ongoing protest outside of there main office on International Dr. See you guys in court I guess since you think you never do anything wrong.
P.S permits are a joke since there is no credibility and no accountability for there...

Updated to response:
First of all, I checked my email and have zero notices of this policy going into effect between the time of the issuance of this license and its subsequent suspension. No notification of it at all in fact.
I spoke with a PPRBD representative on the phone who told me that the policy was in place but not being enforced at the time that my initial license application was accepted. So what I’m saying is my application should have been denied, rather than PPRBD accepting the license fee from me when my COI didn’t meet the requirements. That license is also expired so I would have to pay y’all to have the suspension removed, which I know is all you care about. I’m also not going to waste my time sending a notarized voluntary suspension letter every year for the rest of my life just to keep it from being revoked.
You can gaslight me saying “everyone did it why couldn’t you,” and enjoy having your city going viral when unlicensed uninsured contractors vandalize their customers homes to cover up their shoddy work. I have no intention of doing business in your jurisdiction. I’m just pissed that PPRBD has harmed my business reputation by suspending and eventually revoking this license which should have never been issued in the first place, per your own regulations. PPRBD accepted my COI without that endorsement, then took my money, then suspended my license. Just a bunch of pencil pushing thieves!

“When I was approved for a roofing contractors license RBC201.7.2 Cancellation; Reduction of Insurance. was a regulation that was in place but not being enforced. My license application should have been denied under this regulation, instead, it was accepted and PPRBD happily accepted the license fee. However, after renewing my GL insurance, the exact same insurance policy which was originally accepted, my GL COI was rejected and my license was suspended. Now, through no fault of my own, I will have to explain to all future jurisdictions i wish to do business in why I have a revoked license in Colorado Springs. This issue has the potential to cost me a lot of money in lost business; all because PPRBD decided to randomly, and without warning, start enforcing its own policies that it conveniently chose to ignore when it was time to accept my initial...

Perhaps it would be the person on the phone refusing to give their name (just their first to keep track of conversations), probably because they know how bad their organization is. Then this person actually will transfer you to a non-working extension (this actually happened twice).
Perhaps its with the person telling our mechanical guy to change something, to which he was hesitant because it was wrong, and yet they insisted. So he did and when the inspector came out they dinged him for it and he had to change it back. (The inspector actually apologized but its still 2 days of our time waiting around).
Or maybe its Jessica taking calls for inspections, sitting there taking calls at 8:25 am when my wife calls in to book an inspection. Oh there is an issue with the permit (once again their mistake) Round and round, All right can you book the inspection?... No its 8:33am. Its too late. blink But I called before 8:30 and we have been talking for 8 minutes over YOUR issue with our permit. Sorry. Can't help you. blink
This is the sort of treatment that you get from PPRD and in order to do your project legally and above board this is what you will have to do: They will give you misinformation, get used to it and just suck it up. Be prepared for multiple inspections that make zero sense and having different inspectors setting you different requirements and yes at times contradictory from one another. When you call in to the offices be prepared for the worst of the 'Government worker' syndrome. Yes its a stereotype but they seem to all congregate within those wonderful walls. When you actually do say something about how they are treating you during your process (something everyone is paranoid to do since they hold all the cards when it comes to getting your project done) the response is 'We're here to help'
No you aren't. You are there to impede.
The worst part of all of this experience is that with a little communication and a few standards across the PPRD all of our issues could have easily been avoided because when we did have an issue it was usually corrected with a few mouse clicks or a simple 'Oh you were told that?'.
Its Communication and internally they have none.
PS. Thanks to all the friends and family of the PPRD with 5...
