Daisy Zimmer Photography LLC — Attraction in Columbus

I had the pleasure of working with Daisy on an in home shoot a few months ago. One thing that was really important to me was having this at our home. We create so many life long memories in this space and I wanted to capture that. One really special time for me that I look forward to every weekend are Saturday or Sunday mornings when everyone wakes up and piles in our bed. Still in our jammies we cuddle, read, laugh. Daisy was so supportive of making this the center of our shoot and brought my vision to life. She created a simple pinterest board to help visually show me what colors would compliment my room. I picked out clothes and had her review them to make sure it would look good with the lighting.

As soon as she entered it was obvious how excited she was!! She worked with my son’s silliness and even got him to look away from the camera and say “cheese” so she could capture a more natural vs staged shot. We read our favorite books in bed, hung out as a family, and had a ton of laughs and smiles. My husband, who doesn’t really look forward to these things, stated “aw, this is fun.” My husband had one request of a type of picture he wanted. One of my son and him shaving. Daisy was all about this. I could not wait to see our pictures.

When she told us they were ready, I couldn’t believe she made a slide show!! We all sat on the couch and spent time as a family watching these beautiful images. It was such a special moment. It was so difficult to pick which ones we wanted. When we finally received our prints, I couldn’t believe the quality. Sure enough, we picked one of my husband and son shaving. When I looked at the product, I knew this was going to be a life long piece that would travel with us no matter what house we were in. I also realized, wow, this piece is going to also be in my son’s future home. That was such an overwhelming moment. These pictures are so much more than right now.

Daisy also did something very simple, but so often overlooked. She asked my husband if she could take some pictures of ‘just him.’ She said she feels Dads often get put in the shadows when the focus is on Mom and kids. She captured such stunning pictures of him. He later brought this up to me and stated that was the first time he felt ‘seen’ in a long time. He said it felt so good and that he actually got emotional about it. He expressed his journey as a Dad and things he has gone through and it made us both realize that Dads stories are sometimes silenced. Daisy’s highlight of my husband was so impactful that it opened up very important dialogue for our marriage and family.

Daisy Zimmer is like no other photographer I've ever worked with, and in the most amazing ways. My husband and I have two kids under 6, and the weeks leading up to family photoshoots have always been stressful. I always feel like I'm putting my husband out, and worry that the kids won't cooperate. And then there's the question about what the heck we should all wear! Daisy put me completely at ease in the time leading up to our shoot. Her approach is so personalized and helpful. She asked us to complete a super thoughtful pre-shoot questionnaire in order to get a feel for what sort of shoot would be perfect for our family. She then dreamed up a Pinterest board for a cozy winter in-home shoot, complete with outfit and color scheme ideas. She also sent over a Wardrobe Guide, a Family Session Guide, and a How To Prepare For Your In-Home Session Guide, which were all very handy and reassuring. When the morning of the shoot came, it was extremely laid back and, dare I say, fun! We did all of our favorite things together while Daisy snapped away; we hung out by the fireplace, had a dance party, and read a chapter book as we snuggled in bed. My husband actually enjoyed himself, and the kids didn't want Daisy to leave! I absolutely love our photos; they are unique, stunning, and capture our individual personalities and overall family dynamic perfectly. To top everything off, Daisy gave us several gorgeous print options to choose from in order to truly bring our photos to life. We decided to go with a completely custom photo album, and it is truly perfection. Other photographers just send you your digital photos and that's that; Daisy's mission is to not only capture precious memories (like my kids' sweet faces at a given moment in time... babies don't keep!), but also to turn those memories into beautiful, one-of-a-kind artwork that can be cherished for generations. Last but not least, the client portal is super slick and easy to use. All that being said, I could not recommend Daisy more. I found Daisy through a community facebook page. I looked at a few different photographers and went through a few different stages of what I wanted my photos to look like.When I saw Daisy's instagram and felt like "that's what I want!" She captures genuine family moments. Yes of course there are posed pictures, but what I noticed was lots of happiness, love, and being "together in the moment " in her images.

When I reached out to Daisy, she was very responsive, quick to reply, quick to provide additional information and very easy to communicate with. We settled on a date and scheduled our intake meeting. On her page, she says she wants to have conversations as if she was a friend and that's exactly what it felt like. I had my little baby with me on the call too so Daisy got to virtually meet her before the shoot.

We had to reschedule a few times for unforseen circumstances. So finally on our third try we were able to shoot! It was a 78 degree day in October and we were taking fall photos, long sleeves and all. Our setting was German Village so we walked around the streets. Lots of moments where I felt like a sweaty mess, but you'd never know in the pictures! Daisy was fun, energetic, made crazy noises to get baby's attention, made us laugh too!

Once the shoot was done it was time to wait for our preview and gallery! She got both out very quickly! And the turn out was so beautiful. Exactly what I wanted. Moments in our life. Just us. Our family.

She sends out a few emails afterwards with links to her blog posts about "what's next" backups, printing suggestions, photos books etc. She also includes a gallery app to download! Its pretty slick.

I would definitely recommend Daisy! She made the whole experience from scheduling to finished product so easy and stress free. Especially during our reschedules, she was very understanding and accommodating. If you have questions, just reach out to her! She'll answer them :)...
