Never been treated so bad or actually scared to be attacked by an employee, still have no idea what we couldve done to upset her
Wanted to return a table that we bought day before and never picked up bc we realized dimensions too big.
When we asked cashier if we could do that she chuckled (which was kinda weird but ok lol) and called for manager
manager came (clearly very annoyed she had to come to register but its whatever, could be having a bad day) and said no im not going to do that, u can exchange
So we said okay no problem, we didnt know about return policy, so we just found something to exchange it with
Went to register and asked if it was okay if we exchanged what we found for the table, she said just take them and leave then said BYE loudly while rolling her eyes, starting to cause a scene and cause people to look over
I was stunned at how she was acting because it was so blatantly mean for no reason and my boyfriend and his mom were being nothing but nice so i just said - “whatd we do why are you being rude?”
to which she started hysterically screaming “I am not being rude there must be something SERIOUSLY wrong w YOU” she was stuttering and acting really frantic and started walking toward me.
I walked out bc we were genuinely scared of her at that point and the other 2 people were in line just standing there and not walking up bc she was clearly acting unhinged
If shes not special needs or anything she does not need to be working anywhere around people, I am not exaggerating we were 100% nice to her and the manager and not trying to cause any issues whatsoever I genuinely have no idea what warrented her reaction and only asked what we did bc i was curious what we could’ve said or done to upset her.
If exchanging was such a big deal that wouldve been fine we didnt mind losing out on 20 bucks over the table
Literally not going to be able to stop thinking about this bc I have never ran out of a store feeling scared of an employee or yelled at by an employee im a service worker myself and understand how badly they can be treated I would never be rude in any way so I just can’t understand what we did. Never going back out of genuine fear.
0/10 experience really hope it wasn’t racially motivated toward my boyfriend and his mom and she was just special needs or having an extremely bad day...
Read moreUsed to be a five star for me now it is SHADY and SCAM on multiple levels. Most people are already aware of the "not really a legit charity but a complete for profit pay our upper management millions a year" issues with Goodwill but my latest visits have been shocking. I found a 3 piece computer speaker system THAT ALL 3 PIECES & CABLES WERE BUNDLED AND TAPED TOGETHER. On each of the left and right speaker that said $2.99. THESE SPEAKERS WILL ONLY WORK AS A SET AND NOT BY THEMSELVES IN ANY SITUATION! After u tested them I went to check out. The clerk started ringing up 2.99 , 2.99, and then stopped and said "There's no price on the 3rd speaker" I asked "wait, what your charging for EACH PIECE??" After he said it was a dumb idea as even he knew they only worked as a set, were priced as a set, and he called for help. In comes the rudest lady I have ever met at Goodwill. She snatches them up, and leaves, I wait for several other customers, wait 10 more minutes, where she comes back starts ringing up another person and throws out "We had to test them and it's $19.99 for all of it ." Even the other clerk looked shocked. I had so much on my mind that day, was already late, and was so floored by this I didn't stay to hash it out as I should. I am now contacting upper management at Goodwill, the BBB, and more as this was the SECOND TIME THEY HAD DONE THIS IN TWO VISITS! This is a case of someone priced something without testing it, they saw someone wanted it and hooked it up already to test it, so they changed the price AT THE CHECKOUT to a RIDICULOUSLY high price to either gouge customers OR to get it for themselves which regardless of their policy happens as I have seen / heard this happen as well. Such a shame as I used to shop & recommend various Goodwill's so much. Not enough room here to touch on other issues such as their " help your community"donate your PC here and forget to mention they ship them ALL away from the county for online resale or for sale in other locations at crazy prices. When there are dozens of poor families within blocks of the store in need...
Read moreMy family and I visited a Goodwill store for the first time today, hoping to have a positive experience. We chose this Goodwill for our first experience , While we didn’t find anything interesting, my 11-year-old sister picked out two candies and we gave her cash to pay for them on her own. She got in line at the register, where only one cashier was working. There was a woman ahead of my sister who apparently forgot her phone in the car and stepped away to retrieve it, but my sister wasn’t aware of that.
As my sister stood at the register, the cashier didn’t say anything to her, just continued waiting for the other customer to return. Meanwhile, another cashier opened up at a different register and began assisting a customer who had only just approached the line.
Noticing this from outside the line, I approached and asked why that customer was being served before my sister. The cashier then explained that he was still in the middle of checking out the woman who had gone to get her phone. I pointed out that he should have communicated this to my sister and directed her to the other cashier, but instead, he just stood there doing nothing.
When the woman returned, unaware of the situation, she asked the cashier what had happened. He inaccurately told her that I had said he should have checked out my sister, despite waiting for her to return with her phone—completely misrepresenting what I had said.
It’s unreasonable for the cashier to claim that it isn’t his job to inform a waiting customer that they could go to another register to be served. It was absolutely his responsibility to guide my sister, especially given that she was a young customer standing patiently in...
