Awful experience, only outdone by the prank that the manager pulled on me under the guise of making things right. My therapist, Lauren, never read my intake form and kept interrupting me when I tried to talk to her about it. So she wound up aggravating my injuries and surgery areas. She kept scratching me during the massage, and after several times bringing it up she just accused me of not being used to the pressure. Her pace was such that it seemed like she was trying to fit a one hour massage into a 20 minute session. The scalp massage gave me a headache and tangled my hair so much that it took me 20 minutes to untangle it, and I lost a lot of hair doing so. Then she told me that I could find another therapist if I ever decided to come back. Ryan, the manager, offered to make it right by having a different therapist work on me. I took him at his word and went in. Crystal also never bothered to read my intake form or talk with me about specifics. She then proceeded to rub areas I had specifically listed as off limits, including previous surgical areas. Its as if she was going out of her way to make the massage a painful and unpleasant experience. She succeeded. I realized this was a prank that they had orchestrated when I walked out of the room and saw Crystal and Ryan laughing with each other in the office. Crystal then walked up to the door, opened it, and said "bye". Ryan never bothered to follow up with me, further convincing me that this was an intentional payback for the bad review I had posted after the first session. Wish I could...
Read moreTerrible service. My fiancĂ©e and I bought a membership, the first day he went to get the service he specify he wanted a foot massage also the front desk girl looked that she was taking note of the request once the massage was finish my fiancĂ©e asked about the foot massage and the therapist said there was no note and she had another appointment so she couldnât do it. I schedule an appointment and waited 2 weeks for that, I specified I wanted a FEMALE therapist when I got to the place they had scheduled me with a MALE therapist and wanted to re-schedule me for ANOTHER WEEK. My fiancĂ©e one more time, schedule himself for a DEEP TISSUE massage when he got there the therapist was too soft for his taste so he asked her and she said that was a different price, he said it was ok but she said she can only do soft to medium no deep tissue and he needed to be reschedule. So the staff REALLY doesnât know what they are doing, they donât take customers requests serious and also even when I nor my fiancĂ© didnât get any massage they still charged us. NOT RECOMMENDED!! I would give them a zero star if it were an option, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY there are several places, better and a more...
Read moreI was really excited for this massage. I only get a couple of massages a year, so they are a big event for me. I booked a 90-minute hot stone massage at the New Albany location. This was my first time at Hand and Stone and unfortunately my experience was pretty disappointing. The facility itself was nice, comfortable, and clean, as was the room. However the massage therapist was kind of a let-down. I told her my preference of firm pressure and told her I would let her know if it was too much. The pressure was definitely not firm. Overall I felt like there was a lot of topical rubbing but not very much muscle manipulation, which was a let down. Additionally, I understand that she needed time to put the stones in and out of the warmer, and that takes time, but it felt like it took FOREVER. She would go to futz with the stones and I would lay there for what felt like at least 2 minutes at a time with nothing going on. If I decide to give Hand and Stone another try I will have to be more picky about which massage...
