The Blue Door Boutique — Attraction in Columbus

Let's start with the positive... Unbelievably fast shipping. I live out of state and every purchase reaches me within two business days. High Five BDB! Adorable clothing. Enough said. XS sizes! From petite women everywhere: THANK YOU! We want to wear cute boutique clothing, too!

The constructive criticism.... Why is everything so pricey? I know a lot of boutiques will say that they list their items at the suggested retail price, but I don't know that I buy that (no pun intended). If BDB is out of a top I love, I can google the exact name of the top and 7/10 times find it through another vendor at a less expensive price. This is not how you hook loyal customers. I won't even go into the "No returns, only refunds" thing, because I feel like that is pretty standard for boutiques and you need to read a store's policy before you purchase an item. So...let's talk about shipping costs. $7.95....If the items were priced competitively I wouldn't have a problem with that, but they aren't. Furthermore, I feel like I spend more money on shipping than I do the actual item if I have to return it a time or two. I mailed 3 items back to y'all (on my dime) and you know how much it cost? $20! Cheapest option. That's outrageous. Honestly, it's just not worth the risk of having to possibly make returns so I am unsure what my future relationship looks like with...

My favorite shop in Columbus. It's the first place I go when I'm looking for something specific. The staff are super helpful in putting together casual, professional, and upscale event looks. I always expect an honest opinion on the items I try on, and I receive it! They are sweet in the way that they redirect me and substitute items if it's not flattering! I haven't ever felt like I was being fronted, just so they could make a sale. I have a favorite employee who seems to "get" my sense of style, and she always puts together at least one outfit that pushes my bravery in fashion. 🙂 She encourages me to "break out of my box" in terms of my age, weight, & event I'm attending. The first time I ever walked in, I was desperate for a whole new wardrobe due to changes in my body size. The staff were helpful, and EXTREMELY patient with the time I spent, trying on every single item. Much more patient...

They don't list the materials, i.e. cotton, polyester, modal, etc... which should have been my first red flag. The reason I'm thinking they don't list them is because there does not seem to be one natural fiber in the store. They listed the two tops I purchased as "tees" -- one was a short sleeved SWEATER, and the other was a chiffon-ish polyester blouse...NOT "tees" in any sense of the word. I was going to return them, but then realized I'd have to pay for return shipping, having already paid for shipping the first time..and then pay for shipping AGAIN on whatever I picked (because you HAVE to pick something out because they ONLY give store credit...NO REFUNDS...so I just kept my two horrible "tops" made out of unnatural fibers, probably purchased from China for about 1/50th of what they charge for them.
