I was a walk in with my mother and a child. Did a mani/pedi for them. I wanted acrylics, I asked the girl at the front desk if they can do designs she said yes. They had 3D gel designs at the front drying table on display. I sit down, and the First Lady starts to apply the tips, two of them were applied crookedly. I showed her, she fixed it. Then I showed her how long I wanted them. She cut two too short and had to reapply them. She stated that they were just too long. When I showed her the design I wanted, she said she couldn’t do it. One of the girls tries to mediate, I explain to her that it’s misleading to have the display of none of the artists can do it. She said the only person who was able to do it was off. She tried to talk me into getting a simple chrome polish. I asked if the person was even good at shaping because the trust was lost. She said yes, then the nail tech handed me off to another nail artist who “can” do the flame design. I sit down and the first thing she said is it’s too long lol. At that point I was getting annoyed because it’s a job, either you can do it or not… What you’re doing is complaining to the customer which sounds like lazy incompetence. So she then says she’s not complaining just trying to talk about the design. That it would be really expensive, which was not an issue. So at that point she was profiling me…Starts to go back and forth with me, and at that point I told her I was not interested in them finishing the job bc they clearly could not do it. I go to the front desk to pay for a children’s mani pedi and adult mani pedi bc I was going to take my acrylic business elsewhere. I spoke to the girl who said they could do designs and tell her next time she should ask the type of designs. Bc they weren’t even able to paint a flame design. I looked at the paint job they did on the child and they hadn’t even cleaned it. I had to ask them to clean the polish on their actual fingers… Long story short, very unprofessional nail salon. Do not recommend going here at all. All the nail ladies were talking amongst themselves. So it was super awkward but I kept my cool. The lady who did my mothers nails did a great job, they need more people like her in this establishment. She did her work, it was clean and kept it pushing. The rest were not professional at all…. At the end I payed $69 for shitty service. I walked out with unfinished nails lol but I’d rather take my business elsewhere to competent nail artists.
Update: not even 24 hours and the horrible paint job they did for children’s nails is chipping. No top coat was applied.

Read moreI've been going here for years for facial waxing and nails. About two months ago I went to get my nails done and the technician used the pointed tip of the filing machine to clean under my nail which made a big cut that caused a painful irritation that lasted three days. I talk to them privately and respectfully about the matter rather than posting a review.
Today I went to get my face waxed as per usual and the manager refused to perform the service with the excuse that she's scared to do it because I have sensitive skin. I've been coming here for years and doing waxes but she would not do the service for me after waisting my time making me wait and I was on a tight schedule.
My conclusion is that they have zero appreciation for loyal customers and they punish you for their mistakes. I was just going to them because they're close to work but this situation was for the best as their service has slipped recently.. in addition to this incident, their prices are inflated and they use bad quality products. My friends and I noticed the polish peeling from our gel and sns manicures on different occasions less than a week after the service.
They also force you to give tips and only accept it in cash - if you do not have cash they won’t serve you in the future.
Rainly salon is a better option and it's 5 minutes away from artistic.
I hope this review helps others avoid the disappointing experience i had with...
Read moreArtistic Nails & Spa has great products, but falls short of service. It took 2 hours and shelled out $80 to get a shellac manicure with "chrome" and regular pedicure.
While I was impressed by the hot wax and leg massage, I couldn't count how many times I cringed at the nail technician. She was incredibly curt and rude. I never knew when to dip my hands and feet and she would say "not now" annoyingly and shaking her head. My pedicure nails got messed up and she had the nerve to say "you mess them up". Really?
I don't expect stellar 5 star service at Asian salons. You pay for final product, not friendly service. The service is usually curt with a sense of entitlement, it rarely feels like pampering. I'm doing the staff a favor by coming.
So even with my low expectations, I was taken aback by the poor service. I never heard "Please" or "Thank You", besides at the end when I gave a tip.
In terms of quality, my nails took a very long time. I can't count how many times the nail technician had to repaint them and do it over.
Although the "Chrome" (shimmery powder) gives off a cool pearl effect, judge for yourself if the mani and pedi are worth paying $80.
Much better salons in McLean, overpriced with low quality work and...
