Greenhouse Bistro is an unsuspecting destination for contemporary American and Italian cuisine, where craft beer flows as freely as water and cocktails are concocted with the care of a chemist. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary garden where urban cuisine is reimagined through a lens that's both modern and distinctly Italian.
Having meandered through their menu on a few occasions, each visit feels like a new chapter in an ongoing gastronomic adventure. The Rockfish, for instance, is a symphony of flavors, with its wild-caught dignity resting atop a bed of creamy sautéed orzo, accompanied by roasted corn and kale, all serenaded by a red pepper coulis. It's a dish that could easily have Neptune himself trading in his trident for a dinner reservation.
The Steamed Mussels, with their garlic tomato sauce and homemade toasted bread, are a testament to the beauty of simplicity. Each mussel is a tender morsel of the sea, captured in a sauce that sings with the freshness of the garden and the warmth of the hearth.
The Greenhouse Salad is a vibrant tapestry of basil, cilantro, romaine, radish, carrot, cherry tomato, onion, cucumber, and walnut, all tossed in a sesame ginger dressing. It's a salad that dances on the palate, proving that not all heroes wear capes--some just come dressed in vinaigrette. The Burrata Caprese is a love letter to tomatoes, basil, and belgioioso burrata, all draped in balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil. It's a dish that could make an Italian nonna weep with joy, capturing the essence of summer in every bite.
Pizza aficionados, fear not, for the Bianca with Prosciutto is a slice of heaven. The salty crispness of the prosciutto pairs impeccably with the creamy dreaminess of the cheese, making for a pizza that's as elegant as it is indulgent.
Now, let's talk about "The Burger"--a culinary masterpiece where brisket, chuck, and short rib blend together in perfect harmony, accented by caramelized onions, green leaf lettuce, tomato, smoked gouda cheese, and a killer sauce, all nestled within a brioche bun. It's the kind of burger that demands a moment of silence before the first bite, a tribute to its sheer perfection.
Last but not least, the Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon, accompanied by mashed potatoes and broccoli and drizzled with a lime butter sauce, is a dish that showcases the magic of the sea and the garden, united in a culinary marriage that's both bold and beautiful.
Greenhouse Bistro, with its blend of American zest and Italian charm, is more than just a dining destination; it's a place where food is both an art and a celebration. Whether you're there for the beer, the ambiance, or the urban garden cuisine, it's a spot that continues to grow on you, one delicious...
Read moreA Complete Disaster: Avoid Greenhouse Bistro at All Costs
Our experience at Greenhouse Bistro was nothing short of a nightmare. We had booked a table well in advance for a friend’s birthday, following their request for a deposit and confirming, in writing, our preferred table location. But when we arrived, we were blindsided by the shockingly unprofessional and chaotic handling of our reservation. Our table was ready, but we were flat-out told, "This isn’t your table."
The manager showed complete disregard for our booking, arrogantly stating, "You didn’t book with me," as if that excused their utter failure. They offered to give us couch seating instead of a table and when we refused they scrambled to find us a table and failed miserably. Their incompetence was baffling, but the worst part was the attitude of the staff. We were treated with outright aggression, making the entire experience uncomfortable and disrespectful.
After waiting for over 30 minutes, we realized they were completely incapable of salvaging the situation. We demanded our deposit back and left, disgusted with their service. The excuses they gave were absurd and contradictory. The manager was told that we didn’t make the reservation at the right time (we made it on Tuesday for a Saturday night reservation!) .. Another blamed us for "booking with someone else" for a $50 minimum spending per person, when they claimed the minimum should have been $100—an obvious attempt to shift blame. The minimum charge per person is only $50 per person for patio seating per the manager but for some reason the reservations guy (Nomi) wanted us to pay $100 per person that even puzzeled the manager!
Their incompetence and blatant dishonesty made it clear that they don’t care about their customers. No one should ever have to endure this kind of treatment celebrating a special occasion with large group. Thankfully, we left and headed to Phoenicia Lounge, where the difference was night and day. Great food, fantastic service, and a birthday party that was saved from disaster thanks to their professionalism.
In short: If you have a special occasion that you care about.. Do NOT waste your time or money at Greenhouse Bistro. They don’t respect your reservation, your time, or you as a customer. Avoid this place...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars, I would. We went there on a Thursday night, Sep. 8th at around 10.45 pm. It wasn't a busy night. We order water and a hookah from our waitress, mind you, they don't have menus but she quickly informed us that with fruit heads they were $60 and up but basic ones were $50 but she wasn't knowledgeable about the fruit heads or flavors. We order a mango hookah. 5 minutes later, 2 more waitresses come to ask is if we'd been helped, we say yes and they leave. We don't see our waitress for another 10 minutes when she brings our waters. Then she comes back about 10 minutes later and says our hookah will be right out. About 10 minutes later, the manager comes with the 2 waitresses again asking us if we had been helped so we tell him that we ordered a Hookah a while ago and that our waitress said it would be right out so he goes to check on it and tells us that no one had placed our order and that those waitresses will take our order now. At this point it had already been 35 mins of waiting. We wait another 15 minutes and we could tell they were stalling but still nothing came out. Frustrated with how long it is taking, we go and tell him that we were leaving if it wasn't ready, he says 'Sorry, it's a new girl and I don't want to land on her and she had forgotten to place the order and that they are making it right now and it will come out in the next 5 mins'. We proceeded to wait 5 more minutes and then some but nothing came out so we approach the manager again and he was talking to Masoud (who is the owner) and we informed him that we were leaving because at this point it had been 55 minutes and we were very disappointed and that were going to give them a bad review so he says 'What do you want me to do, if you want to go, Ill understand'. Instead of offering anything to make the situation better, that was his answer? He basically didn't care. What kind of horrible customer service is this??? These hookahs cost $50 for the basic flavors!! This is ridiculous pricing and ridiculous behavior considering that within a 3 mile radius, there are 4 hookah bars at less than half these prices. This wasn't even worth a $1. I can't imagine how bad it would be on a busy night. Terrible experience and...
