I used DAKTronix a few times for onsite IT work for my business. It took longer than expected, but generally got things resolved on prior calls.
Most recently I had Dana to my office to help with a networking issue through our database on December 9, 2020. He basically called tech support of the software we use, sat on the phone with them for 1.5 hours and didn't resolve the issue. He did a Window's update on a computer in our office and removed Norton from a machine while on hold. Then he invoiced me for 4.5 hours or $427.50 ($95 per hour) without fixing anything. The support group for our software called me back the next morning, remoted in and fixed in 5-minuites. All that was needed was a "port to be opened" and then restart the computer. They said very basic networking stuff.
When Dana was here he said he felt bad to bill me for not fixing anything. Two and a half months went by and nothing from them so I assumed he was not going to invoice me as he said. Then a week ago (2.5 months later) I got an invoice for $427.50 with a $50 discount on labor included and a hand written note, "Thank you! This has been stuck in our email server". Interestingly, they mailed the invoice by print and regular mail, yet on response to my review somehow place blame on QuickBooks. Seemingly, QuickBooks has halted business invoicing for months as opposed to DAKtronix not being able to navigate their own email issues for over 2-months on a printed and mailed invoice?!
For me, I paid the invoice and I'll never call on them again. Just a waste of time and money for them not to fix issues, then months later bill for failing to resolve issues within their specialty. It would be like taking your car to a mechanic to fix a problem, them billing you months later for 4.5 hours and tell you they changed the air freshener hanging from the mirror.
Honestly, I would think a business owner who had a 2.5 month delay in billing would call their customer as opposed to just drop an invoice in the mail, especially after they said they felt bad for billing without fixing the problem.
Then in the end to place blame on others, not accept their shortcomings at a minimum for the billing issue and show their true colors publicly is the reason I'll never call on them again. Read moreI have been in business for myself (video production and marksmanship/defensive tactics) for over 10 years and I have been going to DAKtronix for the entire time for all my computer needs. Dana & Echo have always been a great help with anything that I have needed. I had Dana build a screaming machine for me several years back, the first video editing machine that he was asked to build, and that machine worked solid up until recently. I have approximately seven machines both laptops and desktops, all of which DAKtronix has been a part of at some point (i.e. purchasing, upgrading, or repairing) and they have always given great service at a reasonable price. I trust my machines to them, and will continue to trust them with all my computers.
I do not trust "Geek Squad" or any other computer shop that hires 18 year olds that do not know what they are doing with computers and have not handled complex problems like I have had. If your computer means anything to you, and you value your information you need to take your computers to DAKtronix today and stop dealing with someone who says they are "certified" and trust someone that you know is going to handle the job the right way first.

I've been a customer of theirs for over 10 years, have been forced by former jobs to go elsewhere and I would never, ever bring something I own anywhere else. They simple are the best of the best for anything computer related.
Dana just built a new PC for me for much less than I could get anywhere else - and it's clean. No junk loaded from the factory. 18 seconds for full start, a beautiful machine that fit my needs exactly, not something I pulled off a shelf at a store that I made fit my needs, which I then had to fight with due to all the added junk software. He's built laptops for my wife and I as well. This is a full service computer business no matter how big or small your need is.
The other half of the brilliance of this business is Echo. There isn't any problem, challenge, update, cleaning, question, software issue she can't address with incredible creativity. I know I have brought her quite a few - "why is this happening" - situations and she has always found a way. Sometimes it takes a little time but she is relentless in her pursuit of a solution! Echo should be your first call, always!
