EDITING MY REVIEW AFTER THE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL OWNER RESPONDED***. This was my first review. At the bottom I will post my response to the poorly educated owner. Pay attention to how defensive and rude the manager's responses are. That is exactly how they are in person. Everybody who "dislikes" their restaurant is automatically labeled as rude. My husband and I have worked in the restaurant business so we can appreciate good food and more importantly, the service. We show our appreciation in TIPS AND GRATITUDE!! Unfortunately for the management, it is simply easier to warn others online about the experience than telling them in-house everything was wrong from the jump. My husband and I came here for a little dessert and some cocktails (truthfully because their entrees were nothing short of unimpressive the previous times), and when we finally got acknowledged in the very ****slow restaurant, the waiter sat us at a 4 top (which was dirty and had dirty plates). We asked for a dessert menu and he told us that he'd verbally tell us the desserts when we finished dinner. When we told him we had only come in for dessert and cocktails he rudely (and loudly) in front of the restaurant told us to move to a 2 seat high top in case they get a 4 seater... whyyyy did you not sit us there to begin with? Mind you, once again- the restaurant was slow. Over half the tables were empty and now i see why. It was very unprofessional. My husband and I sat very uncomfortably while the restaurant stared. Once again, the high top was dirty. The desserts were as unimpressive as the entrees, and AGAIN we were given dirty plates. Unfortunately for the waiter, I had a wad of cash and was willing to spend it on their overpriced drinks, but after the blatant disrepect, uninteresting food, and dirty plates and tables, he got a $5 tip and we didnt order more than one drink each. Dont come here. Not worth it, and its truly a poor excuse for italian.
Here is my response to YOU:
Your response honestly proves my point better than my review ever could. Instead of addressing the actual issues — dirty tables, dismissive service, unimpressive desserts — you chose to attack me personally. For clarity, as clearly written in my review: we did not come back for entrées. We came only for drinks and dessert. Reading comprehension matters when you’re going to accuse someone of “lying.”
Reviews aren’t here to flatter restaurant owners, they’re here so future customers know what to expect. My experience was poor, more than once, and I have every right to share it. That doesn’t make me dishonest — it makes me honest. What is telling, though, is how quickly you pivoted to petty comments like “open your own restaurant” and bringing up my “wad of cash.” That tone isn’t just defensive, it’s hostile, and it reflects exactly what I (and clearly others) have experienced in person.
So thank you for reinforcing the very point of my review: feedback at this establishment is met with insults instead of accountability. Potential customers can decide for themselves whether they’d like their dinner served with a side of...
Read moreWe recently dined at Trattoria Dionisia, and while there were some positives, the experience overall left much to be desired. The biggest issue was that many menu items simply weren’t available, including gluten-free bread, their gluten-sensitive options, and veal. It would’ve been helpful to know this upfront, as it left us with very limited choices and made the meal frustrating.
As a family with celiac, we struggled to find something suitable, and they weren’t able to accommodate our dietary needs well. The kids’ menu was limited, and they served our 3-year-old’s drink in a glass cup, which wasn’t ideal. My Caesar salad had burnt croutons, and the fettuccine Alfredo was bland, with no flavor or cheese offered.
On the positive side, the meals were fairly priced, and the restrooms were clean. Our server was okay, though the drinks (just sodas) took longer than expected. The cozy atmosphere and short-notice accommodation were appreciated, but the lack of available menu items and slow service made it hard to enjoy the meal.
To top it off, no discount or goodwill gesture was offered to account for the inconveniences, which would have been a nice touch. We had hoped Trattoria Dionisia would be a hidden gem, but with so many issues and no effort to make up for them, we’re not likely to return.
Update:
I am truly shocked and disappointed by the response from the restaurant. To claim that my family and I were “rude and disrespectful” is not only inaccurate but a complete misrepresentation of the situation. We were frustrated, yes, but for very legitimate reasons: multiple items were unavailable, including key gluten-free options that were essential for us due to dietary restrictions. At no point were we rude to the staff; we were simply asking for options that should have been available or communicated earlier.
The accusation that we were somehow angling for “free food” is absurd and frankly insulting. We paid for our meal, and if anything, it was the restaurant’s inability to provide what was promised that created the issue. To suggest that we were seeking a free handout instead of addressing the very real service and menu shortcomings is a cheap deflection of responsibility.
It is astounding that instead of acknowledging the issues raised and offering to improve, the restaurant has chosen to respond with personal attacks and a statement like “please don’t come back.” Rest assured, we won’t. But not because we were asked not to—it’s because of the unprofessionalism and lack of basic respect for customers. This kind of treatment speaks volumes about the establishment, and we hope this review helps others avoid a...
Read moreMy family and I went a few weeks ago for Mother's Day after learning about this restaurant from the chef. The chef said that she was from Argentina and so I wanted to support her and check out her restaurant. My family is from Argentina so I try to support as much as I can those in the US. However, I was so disappointed with the dinner that I had to write this as I can't seem to let this go and feel the need to. The food was awful, not flavored, watery and full of massive chucks of garlic. It was a disgrace to the Italian cuisine (I have been to Italy and know pasta especially from an Italian family too). She stated before going that she appeals to the Americans, her food, but this was SO BAD. The mussels appetizer had little mussels. I expected a bowl full of them. The mussels and clams were chewy and bad. We ordered 4 pasta dishes and they were all so bad. One was a seafood pasta dish, expecting seafood but got IMITATION crab. There were other seafood items like calamari but that was so chewy and hard to eat. I don't expect fake food at a restaurant. I was shocked and so disappointed. Told the waiter and asked "why!? Why is there imitation crab in a seafood dish!?" She got upset, grabbed the plate and walked off to the bar and talked smack in Spanish about me. I know spanish and that was completely disrespectful. She came back very defensive and argumentive and getting intense that I had to say "let it go, drop it! " I had my three children with me. She then proceeded to charge us for it. We did not even want to try the dessert at this point. In fact, the desserts there are not made in house or by anyone in that restaurant. She outsources the desserts which are awful (I tasted them and they were all bad). I don't think she even tastes them for quality control. Why sell something awful that you don't even make? Restaurants nowadays focus on just a few dishes and perfect them and taste excellent. This restaurant had a lot of items for such a small place and I can see how the past reviews put the Costco comment now. I get it. She says she gets quality ingredients but that is not what I tasted that night. And they say they are kid friendly, they are not. I've had better service that were much more kid friendly. Save your money and cook at home as you will make a much...
