So I've noticed that the person below me has stated that the line was almost out the door and there was one teller. I'm assuming he's referring to the movie Star Wars- which I saw the day it came out. I've been informed that by the line had been extending outside the theater and out into the parking lot. People were lining up by noon for the first 7pm showing. Sir, if you're complaining about lack of buckets and cups- the theater gets a specific amount of cups and buckets in (especially the limited edition black popcorn bucket) and with a line that long and every half an hour there was another showing of Star Wars, it was more then likely that they ran out of cups and buckets. Secondly, there is no such thing for a 'voucher for a star wars bucket' because it does't exist. They have a bucket, you buy it- this isn't a department store where they order it online for you or call you if they have any in. Thirdly, my friends have worked in this theater- I'm a frequent to Cobb and therefore I do know a lot about how the company operates. I can tell you that the coke machine, when overused tends to liquefy and it takes less then five minutes to freeze it back up. Additionally, if you ask them and give them your name and theater number they will send an employee to the theater and give it to you so you don't have to wait. Also you do not know this, but for the 'screeching sound problems' that you are referring to, means that the technicians are working to find the medium for the volume. IMAX movies and standard movies are different- IMAX is louder and Disney didn't allow the theater to test out the movie beforehand in either standard showing or IMAX, and so the loud noise you were hearing was them just trying to change the volume in a way that would allow you to enjoy the movie when it started. It is not something they can help, as my friends were complaining about it the night before. And last- I do not think it crossed your mind, but if I'm correct in assuming you went to see a movie one one of the days after Star Wars premiered, you'll consider the high volume of feet stomping across the carpet and tiles, the line extending out the door and into the parking lot and also every employee who is working hard at the registers to give you popcorn and drinks and ringing up your tickets and hearing your complaints- that there's no one on the floor to mop every half and hour after a large theater of almost 400 getting out of the movie, as employees will have to come in, clean up the large volume theater in less in 20 minutes (if you attended this movie the night it came out and watched it in IMAX- they were all sold out This theater fits 380 people exactly- no doubt all with popcorn and drinks and candy). There's not an infinite number of employees and they are only human, sir. You cannot expect everyone to be everywhere and keep everything spotless while simultaneously cleaning up theaters, working concession, as a teller, ripping tickets and trying to lower the volume from 'screeching sound' to 'reasonable volume for a movie with no preparation beforehand'.
Someone else below has commented on how pricey the concession food is. From my understand the theater does not keep the money made from ticket sales- their main and only income that they keep are the ones made from the purchase of your popcorn, candy, etc. It is understandably expensive, however your purchase is what keeps the theater running.
I've been going to this theater for a while now, and while it is not perfect, I can assure you, it is not as horrible as you insisted, considering the night you've chosen to...
Read moreMy wife and I love our local Merritt Island GQT theater at the Merritt Square Mall. We’ve lived here for 30 years and have enjoyed the evolution of this cinema over the years. In the recent transition from CMX to GQT, we were fearful that some of the really friendly and helpful staff would lose their jobs, but many of our old friends are back. In the transition, they have cleaned and refreshed the theaters and restrooms. They have put some work into the place, and it shows. I think that the pricing has come down a bit, and something that we really love is their “Golden Bucket” popcorn special, that really saves money, for those of us who love popcorn, and go to the movies at least a few times a month. Large popcorn still has one free refill, and you can ask for a plastic bag for an “instant refill” before you go into the theater. Also, they’ve brought back the free popcorn seasoning bar that we dearly love! They have transitioned to the mode that many other cinemas have used for years, where you buy your tickets at the concession stand. We always get popcorn and a drink anyway, but even if you don’t, the lines are short. Even though the place is now fully re-opened, most of the exterior signs still say “CMX”. Don’t forget to download the GQT app, and register for the rewards program. We have certainly benefited from that over the years, and you should too. I think that the app is a vast improvement over the previous CMX app, in that the movie selection and showtimes are more user-friendly. Please support your local theater, so that we can all enjoy this special big-screen experience for...
Read moreI will list the reasons why this may possibly be the worst movie theater I have visited for the price. Prices way too high for what you receive. $80 for Avatar in IMAX. For that price, I expect amenities like reclining seats, good service, reserved seating etc. seats rock but that’s about it. Pretty uncomfortable and worn. Not clean. Online ticket kiosks broken and was directed to box office out front. After waiting 20 minutes in line at ticket box to show only attendant my online ticket, was told to come back later for 3D glasses. Had to go back 15 minutes later and wait another 20 minutes in same line to get glasses. Literally no one there to take tickets. People were just walking in and out. If I had known that, I would have saved $80. People kept walking back and forth not knowing what auditorium their movie was in. The signs in front of each auditorium were broken. Women couldn’t find restroom. I saw numerous people asking for it. Most thought their options were either men’s room or family bathroom. Woman’s was further down hall with no sign. I went to men’s room after movie and there was a woman in stall. Everything in game area turned off. One line open at concession stands for Sunday afternoon. Line was at least 25 deep. While waiting to go in movie, employees were at the back closed concession stand complaining about how job sucked.
Overall, for the price, absolutely not worth it and I feel like I was robbed. This place provides dollar movie theater quality and service for high end theater...
