The obstacles were really fun for the kids and adults alike. Everyone in attendance enjoyed this. However, their ability to host an efficient, organized birthday party is lacking. I was told after booking the party I didn't need to call back with a firm number...that the party room held up to 50 people. I called back anyway several days before the party and gave the number of kids coming as 30-35 to make sure there was enough room and coverage. I was told no problem. When we arrived, we had to wait 10 minutes for the previous party to let out. When the party hosts started the first obstacle they had all 33 kids in one long line which meant all they were doing was waiting around. It wasn't until I went up to them after about 10 minutes and asked if they could split the group in half that they said oh yeah...that's probably a good idea. Once that was done the host who was ordering the pizza for us said he would order for 16 kids. We were confused at this point as there were 33 kids in attendance. We opted to order 8 pizzas so we would have enough for all attending with a little extra. About 5 minutes after the pizza was ordered, the last 3 kids showed up. (This is important later) When we got to the party room, it was only set up of half the number of kids. We had kids standing around with no tables and no chairs. Party hosts were running around actually trying to find tables and chairs. It was a mess. Then the kids were told in front of the parents they would be given one piece of pizza and could not have another until they finished every bite including the crust. (say what) I don't even eat the crust. I approached the host thinking he was joking. He wasn't. He told me that we had extra people show up so we may not have enough. The last 3 kids that showed up did so about five minutes after he ordered...probably around 3:30 pm. We didn't head to the party room until 4:30 pm. There was ample time for him to voice concern with us and add to our order if necessary. This was extremely embarrassing. Once the pizza was done it was time for cake and ice cream. One of the hosts looked at me and asked me if I planned on doing the cake there. (again say what). I told her of course... where else would I do it? She said some do it at home and since we only had five minutes left, we may want to do that. I had a sheet cake that fed 60 people for kids and parents...really???? It was rushed, disorganized, inefficient and embarrassing. It's a shame too b/c the kids loved the obstacles. I didn't want to post this review as I wanted to speak with the manager first. However, the manager never called me...

Response: what's truly unfair is your unwillingness to compromise or being even slightly accommodating or understanding. Your employee Taylor informed me that it would be $20 a person for a group event (same rate as a day pass). We booked for 10 people for $250, fair. We put a down-payment of $125. Due to inclement weather we had people decide the drive wasn't worth the risk, understandable. We are students and this was a social event, participation was not mandatory. We were 15 minutes late due to traffic. What should have been a 30 minute drive turned into 55. In the end, 5 people showed up. I asked you if it was ok for us to instead of doing the party pricing of $250 for 5 people ($50ea.), we could just do the normal amount (not an unreasonable request in my opinion) we werent asking for a day pass price to spend the whole day their and get more bang for our buck, just the fair pricing.
We did not ask for a time extension or any extra accommodations. We would have been fine losing the time, but to be so unwilling to compromise is unfair. To charge students $50 a person when your regular rate is $20 is unfair. Even if you kept the deposit as the entry fee for 5 people at $125 instead of the $100 it would have been, that's $25 a person instead of $20, fair. You could have said, "sure that's fine we'll keep the deposit as your entry fee, but we won't provide you a coach" that's both a compromise and fair and we would not have argued that and happily left at our designated time. What was being argued and disagreed with is charging 5 students 10 person admission. That's unfair and unnecessary.
We could have left there saying, "man how cool of them to be so accommodating. We should book them again so those who missed out can experience that and bring even more people next time so we can give them more business." Instead of, "we will never plan a social event there again." Small accommodations and compromises like that are what bring more people back excited to do business with niche places like that. Not an unwillingness to make the most out of what is available and have some level of understanding and customer...
Read moreWell, some fun can be had here; lots of different obstacles, but it's more of a "Rocky" style, bare bones place. The service here definitely seemed to prefer to cater more to regulars trying to train for the next ninja warrior thus myself and 2 other families that were looking for something for kids (9-13 yo) to try and get interested in on a Monday, 3/11/19.
It was downhill from the beginning with their groupon deal. Their pass for 2 entries is for the same person only, not very clear from their groupon terms, which they love to refer back to, but again, not very clear and left to "their" interpretation. I refuted this with them at the front desk and the "manager", one of the scrawny, taller, younger punk looking kids just said that's the way it is and left it at that. Had I not been with 2 other families, I would have left and never come back. We drove over 40 minutes to get there so, unfortunately, was stuck.
Further, every time we asked them something, it was usually a snide remark as a response and a true reluctance to want to do anything. They seemed to really want to discourage any requests. For example, the kids had been using their swinging rope for at least 30 minutes when an employee there told them that it had to be set up before the kids could use it, then walked off. Then, we went to another employee to ask them if they could help us set it up. He said he would but, well, he answered in a very depressed, short, and disengaged way, pause and to get himself to just push aside the reluctance to want to do anything, and walks slowing, like you had to pull him along, to get it done. Also, I remember my 11 yo daughter coming up to the guys behind the front desk to ask for a harness and they said they charged a dollar for it (when it's actually included in the entrance). Well, an adult answering something like that to a kid, well, it pretty much enough for me to say we'll never be back and discourage anyone to go there. By doing so, she was pretty much shut down from wanting to climb the wall and other activities requiring the harness.
You'd be better off trying somewhere else unless you live nearby and truly training to be...
