I shop in other Asian markets, but happen to visit this place, this past Saturday. Great place to shop for fresh fish, and other Asian grocery and vegetables. I gave 2 stars, because of my bad experience with salmon fish. I buy bulk and freeze, so as usual, i picked a big size salmon piece from belly to tail, and asked them to fillet it. I was expecting at least 8 fillet including the small tail end pieces for the Size I picked. I bought lot more of other fish varieties, ang groceries, so did not notice the issue until i got home. I saw only 4 thinly sliced fillet with a price tag of $28. I know salmon is costly, but it can't be for the size i got. Also, I did not see the fillet of tail ends. IT PAINS my heart to see my hard earned money got stolen like this. I got 4 pieces, and you can see in the picture, how thinly sliced they are. So, each piece is $7.00, and i am still missing tail ends??. I get better price from other Asian markets.

First time coming and very impressed with quality and selection. Young son decided he wanted us to try making gyoza (dumplings/potstickers) ourselves. Our regular grocer didn’t have round dumpling wrappers. This market had multiple kinds and were easy to locate in the back freezer section. The produce/vegetables also looked very nice. Son also got a kick out of seeing the extensive selection of live seafood (crabs and fish). Cashier was pleasant and politely answered our questions (we wanted to double check if the wrappers we chose were ok for making gyoza, which she confirmed and offered additional advice). Would highly recommend this market for anyone looking for hard to find Asian cuisine supplies, or if you want a nicer selection of produce. And, happy to share, our first attempt at gyoza went pretty well!

Hi, It’s Stephen again. @foodguy.ste Today, I had a wonderful experience at MD Oriental Market while picking up sushi ingredients to create my own California roll and sushi maki at home. The market had an impressive selection of fresh fish, including salmon, tuna, and shrimp, which were perfect for making sushi. The staff at the market was friendly and helpful, guiding me through the different types of fish and recommending the best cuts for sushi. The market also had a wide variety of other Japanese ingredients, such as nori, rice vinegar, and wasabi, which made it a one-stop-shop for all my sushi needs. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and I could tell that they were fresh and authentic. The market was clean and well-organized, making it easy to find what I was looking for.

I thought this store was good in the aspect that there is a lot to choose from, but the clerks are atrocious. For starts, the time for the Fowler location in Tampa is incorrect, online. Since they close at eight instead of nine, I made the mistake of showing up at exactly 8pm. Not realizing this, upon entering the cashiers yelled at me in unison that they were closed. I showed a couple of the clerks that the time on the Internet said 9, that I had driven all the way from Sarasota to get something we don't have, and that I wouldn't take more than 5 minutes. Normally, I would never bother to ask, but since I had just made an hour drive and wasted $20 in gas, I figured since there were still plenty of people waiting in line, I would easily be back up front before other people were done ringing up. I only needed 2 things. I quickly grabbed the first item within the first good 30 seconds of looking, and WHILE I was looking at my second item, one of the cashiers yelled at me, "We're closed!!!" I went to grab the bag really quickly, but then she yelled it at me again so harshly that I ended up just leaving the second thing and rushing up to the counter where, surprise, surprise, there was still someone in line. I'm not normally a complainer, but I seriously have never been treated so rudely anywhere I have ever shopped. I understand if they needed me to leave, but yelling at me? Really? I've worked plenty of retail places and would never dream of yelling at a customer, ever. There is a right way to go about things, and I will definitely never return to this store or...

The customer service was very good they helped me out. Be an African-American woman walking up in there it felt real different a lot of Korean Japan and Chinese people was there as customers and they was looking at me like what am I doing here other than that it was a great experience walking to the market it smelled really bad but I was thinking the reason why it smelled like that it smelled like fresh fish and they did have fresh fish and lobster in the back. So I appreciate it the smell before I left I found what I was looking for. Bitter melon 💨 I've been eating bitter melon because I am a diabetic type 2. I research alternatives because I've been going through the rapid pain in my nerves system due to out of control sugar levels. This is my third day Eden bitter melon. The swelling in my feet went down in the pain that I was feeling all through my body went away. The lady at the counter was very helpful she told me not to eat a lot I researched this looking Bitter melon and you should too it's the most powerful food in the world. This bitter melon even helps with depression if you're going through that. Once you pass the bitter taste and drink that juice and eat the hug of the melon it will change your life. I'm not even really taking a lot of pain medicine or my insulin at all. If you're going through pain or you have swelling feet or swelling in the body or pain this is a perfect Japanese vegetable to eat. I feel like I got my life back again eating this bitter melon. Change your life...

I initially wanted to give this place 5 stars. I purchased fresh turmeric and ginger along with other items that were either bottled sauces or frozen items. All was well until I went to use the ginger exactly 24hrs later and saw that it had molded. It was too late to take it back, so I took it back the next day. I had already thrown my receipt away bc I used everything else and it was just the turmeric and ginger that I hadn't touched and I didn't plan on returning it. People, please keep your receipts. They gave me the hardest time exchanging the ginger. The manager advised the associate to let me exchange it and when I went over... All of the ginger had mold growing on it. The lady advised me to just take it and cut the mold off. I refused and got something else. It was a little cheaper, but I couldn't get change back, so I lost a little change. Oh well.

Here's the kicker. I got home late that night and went to use the turmeric and it to had mold on it. I had checked it that night that I checked the ginger, so I have no words. I purchase ginger and turmeric a few times a month for years, and I've never had this issue. I have not returned since. I may return for other packaged items, or something that I'm going to cook and eat that night, but never to buy these 2...
