Exploring the Island Pier: A Coastal Oasis on the Emerald Coast Nestled along the stunning shores of Okaloosa, Florida, the Island Pier, formerly known as the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, stands as a testament to the timeless allure of the Gulf of Mexico. This beachside haven beckons visitors with the promise of a multifaceted experience, whether one seeks a fishing adventure, watersport activities, or simply a tranquil stroll along its expansive structure.

Stretching an impressive 1,262 feet into the Gulf, the Island Pier offers unparalleled views of both sunrise and sunset, becoming a natural amphitheater for the celestial dance between sky and sea. The panoramic spectacle is not just a visual delight but a soul-soothing experience, immersing visitors in the rhythmic beauty of nature.

For fishing enthusiasts, the pier extends a warm invitation with a variety of passes catering to different age groups. The tiered pricing structure ensures accessibility for all, from adult fishing passes to annual memberships. The octagon installed at the end of the pier not only enhances the fishing area but adds a distinctive touch to the overall structure, creating a unique environment for anglers.

Adult Fishing Pass $8.00 Child Fishing Pass (6-12yo) $5.00 Children (5yo & under) FREE Senior Citizen (65yo & older) $7.00 Observers/Walking Pass $2.00 Rental Rod $20.00 Small / $25.00 Large Annual Adult Fishing Pass $240.00 Annual Senior Fishing Pass (65yo & older) $210.00 Annual Child Fishing Pass (6-12yo) $150.00 Large selection of bait and tackle available Variable Pricing Drinks and snacks available Variable Pricing

The Gulf waters surrounding the pier teem with marine life, transforming a fishing expedition into a captivating marine safari. From dolphins gracefully navigating the waves to sea turtles and pelicans, the pier offers a front-row seat to the daily drama of the ocean. The pride of the pier, The Island Anglers, skillfully reel in an array of catches, from the elusive Black Fin Tuna to the formidable King Mackerel, adding an exciting dimension to the marine spectacle.

The pier has etched its name in angling lore, boasting catches that range from Large Tarpon and King Mackerel to Cobia and Black Fin Tuna. Rare instances of Sailfish being caught off the pier contribute to its legendary status. Fishing becomes an art form here, with anglers testing their strength against the Gulf's giants and sharing tales of battles won and lost.

The Island Pier is not merely a fishing outpost; it is a gateway to an array of experiences. The adjacent white sugary sand beaches beckon, and the pier itself serves as a vantage point to witness dolphins in their natural habitat. The daily ritual of watching the sun dip into the Gulf of Mexico becomes a cherished tradition for both locals and visitors alike.

Our visit to the Island Pier was more than a recreational outing; it was an immersion into a community of like-minded enthusiasts. The camaraderie among anglers and the friendly exchanges with fellow visitors created an atmosphere of shared appreciation for the coastal wonders.

Now we know why the Island Pier is considered a coastal gem that transcends its role as a fishing destination. It is a narrative of resilience, a canvas for marine spectacles, and a haven for those seeking solace by the sea. A visit to this maritime sanctuary is not just an adventure; it's a pilgrimage to the heart of the Emerald Coast's natural grandeur. Fort Walton Beach, Navarre, and Destin are only minutes away from the pier. I would highly recommend you visit if you ever find yourself in the area. Don't forget to follow our adventures. Been coming here for decades. Recent change in management company has been absolutely horrible. Prices up 250%. No sharing equipment with your children. Told "we don't do that here this is a business" in a rude and very condescending way. Ok well business involves making people want to use your business. You don't accomplish that by speaking this way to paying customers.

You also should be mindful of your competition.

My advice....pay the $2 to stroll the pier or $8 if you have your own gear to fish. Totally reasonable and you will have minimal contact with the jerk manager there.

But if you have a family on vacation and would like your kids to experience fishing. You WILL come out with better results for the price and a much more enjoyable experience by taking them out on any of Destin's charter boats. Friendly captains and knowledgeable deck hands will keep you catching and enjoying yourself for the same OR EVEN LESS money charged by this new pier whackjob company.

Avoid.

Update on misquote The pier management "education" is thrilling but not true. What I said was plain. We were going to see how the fishing was and have our kids come join us if anything was biting decently. Not much was unless running sophisticated rigs that are over my children's heads.

My opinion remains that the $12 rental that I used to pay has gone up substantially though, to be fair, incrementally. My opinion remains on complete lack of competitive pricing with charters, party boats, and even the Navarre Pier.

This place was overpriced for bringing kids with no equipment. If you have your own, as I said before it is only $8. Tackle and bait prices are only a bit high but the convenience makes up for that.

Whether the manager meant to be a jerk or not...he was. And as far as running businesses, trust me I don't need any education from them.

So go see the lovely and well maintained pier. If you tote your own gear and setups, by all means give it a go.

But if taking a family (there are 9 of us) fishing, take a charter or party boat. Competitive prices and a much better experience with nice business people and better...

@this reply would make me laugh if it wasn’t so sad.. The other review you mentioned, was another legitimate complaint of a manager acting horribly..but you are right because both places did ruin my day which happened to be my birthday.

I attempted to have a fun day and both businesses had a poor showing. I’d be ashamed of pointing out that you were in company with such a horrible experience if I were you and not point it back at a customer.

Seems like u used a legitimate complaint to practice your attempt at wit. I’d keep trying, I’m sure when others share their HONEST opinions, you’ll get another shot. I also never said I didn’t live here lol. So… Your reply only goes to show, that there is nothing fun about this place anymore..

Not a fun place anymore. Local workers r on a heavy power trip here. Loudly complaining about what they perceive are not locals. NEWS flash, this is a tourist spot, if u don’t like it Im sure there are less obviously directed towards visitors places for you to work…

It was highly irritating to one, hear them complain when u just want to fish (please save it for later) and two incredibly unnecessary.. it’s not that serious.. This kept them from actually paying attention to the people with screaming kids running around and potentially getting themselves hurt.. (aka an actual job responsibility)

The rules and prices seem to change daily.

Just take the short drive to Navarre pier where fishing is still under $10…

$40 for fishing (when you already posses a sufficient license and pole) and a little bit of bait is insane.

Not to mention, you can’t even get them to sell you a simple weight without attitude. Like r u the fishing tackle police or something? Is there a weight shortage Im...

Captured a picture of a heron on the pier — it turned out beautifully, but with just a hint of foreboding. Wonderful experience walking the pier. We saw tons of dolphins stealing bait right off people’s lines — it was wild to watch! The whole place is clean, with easy parking and a great atmosphere. All around an awesome outing — we’ll definitely be back.
