A BLAST FROM MY PAST! I had never heard of Ollie's Bargain Outlet until recently. I saw it last year when I was in Florida but didn't check it out until this year's visit. OMG! It is exactly what the former Building 19 chain was before Jerry Ellis stepped down from running it. The same merchandise. The same signage. The same slogans. The same grafics. It was exactly like stepping into a building 19 from its early years up until it changed in the late 1990s (it closed around 2010). Let me explain... The business model is what used to be called "railroad salvage". They buy out the "last seasons" goods that major stores didn't sell. They buy from bankruptcies, manufacturer overstock, remanufactured products and odd lot goods. They do their buying at a discount and then resell at a discount. The stores are not fancy with basic warehouse shelving and bare cement floors. There are NO FITTING ROOMS and very few of the niceties of full retail stores. It's a little like a treasure hunt as inventory always changes. You'll never know what you will find there. This location is fairly large. They had housewares, books, food, camping supplies, auto accessories, clothing, cleaning supplies, toys, and games. There was a lot to look at and some really good prices. Stop buy and check it out. It's the type of store people either...
Read morethis needs to go viral how this woman @helperdognala with a disability was treated by an @Ollie’s Bargain Outlet employees And kicked out with her service dog after she asked the employees to remove an aggressive…dangerous dog from the store….that ISNT pet friendly…even if it was a pet store….aggressive/dangerous dogs aren’t allowed…maybe if they are muzzled…but not if they are a risk…again the ADA states the animal must be under control AT ALL TIMES. This includes barking. They should have been asked to leave immediately. Either way….that dog should have been escorted from the store immediately..
You’r employee Pamela needs to be held accountable.
The aggressive dog should have been kicked out immediately since the place only allows service dogs. If she wants to bring her dog she can go to Petco…But even then it’s clearly out of control and can’t handle other dogs so she should keep it home until it’s socialized better. privilege has nothing to do with fearing the safety of a service dog. if the employee escorted the woman with the aggressive dog out instead of kicking the service dog and handler out who were allowed to be….not only to be treated like that by an employee.. she could absolutely sue you for not removing and obviously aggressive dog while she was shopping with her...
Read moreMeh- sorry folks, but Ollie's Bargain Outlet reminds me of Big Lots from back-in-the-day. Ollie's offers flooring, furniture, books, automotive and cleaning supplies, as-seen-on-TV products, sporting goods, housewares, medical supplies, shoes and clothing, some crafting supplies, toys, paper products, a few electronics, and shelf groceries. Every location seems to be condensed to fit in as much as possible. Their prices, like their products, vary in quantity and quality. You'll find some good bargains, but sometimes, depending on the items being purchased, the quality isn't up to par. My best advice: 1) Check the wording on advertisements carefully(no guarantee on electronics, look for sizes, check for 'refurbished'), can't shop here if you're 'brand' conscious, be patient at the register, check the expiration date on food and medication items before buying, and sign up for their online discount Good luck...
