I'm a CBD lotion person. As much as I love that friend's homemade butter balms, there's often a mix of THC in it and I just want sweet, sweet muscle and nerve pain relief. I was very happy to find a 400mg CBD only lotion at Planet 13 that was tested and guaranteed to be THC free. I didn't realize they had a house brand and was amused that I was picking up a home brew batch after all.

I tried it within an hour and my pain melted away with a dime sized splash. The palm sized container was $54 which for something that will last six months for me was great.

I think there are pros and cons to this experience but overall they had what I needed and the price was right.

Some things you may encounter: I could not get this delivered to a casino hotel.

It was a holiday weekend on Friday night and their phone vm and site did not say if they were open. People nearby said they would be but other 24 hour stores were closed, so I had to drive over unsure what would be there. The parking lot had taxis that were racing in it, and with no safe pedestrian walkway as I slowly crossed I was almost hit. Not P13s fault per se, and it's a holiday in Vegas, but if you walk slow be very aware of taxis in the lot.

Entering the store was a shake down, there's no concierge to move the batons. Check in was an intense goth lady by herself. I'm used to a friendly check in with a multi staff security. I felt bad for her being alone up front and she was not in a good mood and just waived me through.

Luckily someone checked in just after me and I followed them to the right door and got to see how they used a kiosk. My initials zoomed to some unknown place. I looked at the gear in the shop and enjoyed the logo microfiber fisher hats and smell proof backpacks.

I spent 15 minutes looking around and realized I had no idea if someone would call my name or what the deal was. I was grateful they were open but I didn't know if the product I looked at online was in stock. A friend had offered to buy it for me so I could enjoy the holiday, but he had lost his ID that week so we couldn't do an online order for pick up with his card and my ID. So again was unsure what lay ahead here.

I found what looked like a check out area and there was one young woman being talked to death by a coworker. I went over and chatted with her for a moment to get him to leave and asked if they had any CBD only products. She made sure I was checked in and said only topicals, which is exactly what I was hoping to hear. She said she'd look and be back at a register down the counter. She left and the sales guy finally got the hint. I met her at a check out screen further down and she had found this lotion and some tinctures. She said they had great flavor, we talked about them a bit. If I had more on me I might have picked them up for us to try. For a one product stop I stuck with what I knew would work and she seemed to be happy there was cash involved vs a card. They take both here though which is a plus.

The bag was industrial with a smell reducing pouch and cool printed design. She put the receipt centered on top and it was like top chef presentation, which amused me because CBD is often in edibles.

I left and noticed an interactive viz board on the floor. It was a koi pond. If you tap the screen it looks like rippling water. I'm a visual effects producer and I loved this. Other guests came to check it out but they were all annoying guys who seemed to be on uppers. I would say the screen is a bit bright for people who are using the lounge, but the idea is cool and I enjoyed a mostly calming exit.

Pros: The product is amazing, affordable, and I didn't need prescription medicine the rest of the weekend. This may have saved me from dealing with an ER until after the holiday.

Cons: No delivery, women are not protected super well here, holiday hours are not posted.

So very glad they were open late and carry a strong CBD lotion. Pretty cool that it is an in house brand. If they delivered this...

I was not fully pleased with my experience at Planet13 on Desert Inn. I don’t know if all local shops are run similarly, but I found this set up confusing at first, a little frustrating, and quite time consuming. Admittedly, I come from out of state from a state that everyone always says, “oh, well it’s awesome there cuz it’s THERE”.

Before I complain, though I want to preface my gripes with the admission that having weed available is ALWAYS preferrable to not, so ultimately was glad Vegas is green.

My issues:

  1. Weird check in system seems unnecessary. My state works great on a walk in, walk up, walk out basis.
  2. Weird secondary check in station upon entering the actual dispensary where you enter your initials and phone number for a text. Checking in here puts you in a queue for one of the up to 60+ registers(?). Maybe it’s not that many, but I was at register 61.
  3. While waiting for a text to reveal your budtender’s location, you can browse many, many sealed cases with various products that, while apparently organized by type of product, are in no way organized by price, which is a little inconvenient.
  4. In addition to the strange partial organization methods employed here, while some products were marked with stats like THC content, and whether indica or sativa or hybrid, many more were not, making it nigh impossible to make any kind of decision. I took pics of what most interested me and waited for my text. At this point I was 6th in line.
  5. My budtender told me the items in my pics are not available. Pretty sweet! Not having a great idea of what I wanted when my text came in, I relied on the budtender to understand my wants and waited at the register while he went off somewhere for several minutes and came back with 3 things, giving me a choice of two carts, and only one option on the pre-rolls I wanted. Having been here too long already, I dropped nearly twice what I would pay at home. $95 for two joints and a half gram cart?! Ouch! Bought what he gave me cuz I didn’t want to wait any longer. At this point, I’m pushing a half hour in the store.
  6. Product quality: my cart is ok, no trouble, but both of the $28+ Grassroots diamond infused pre rolls smoked poorly. Both ran like crazy and no amount of damage control would stop it. The first one I smoked, I couldn’t draw through it for the first half, despite my attempts to loosen it up n whatever.

Gave 3 stars cuz at least I got weed, but even if every other place in Vegas is equally weak, I’m still not...

Was excited to go back to Planet 13 LV was a year and a half since I was there brought people with me and was hyping this place up until I figured out what is really going on with this place. Great facility, great lay out and lots of bud tenders everything you want from a dispensary EXCEPT . . . (NOW THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!!!) the actual products they sell when you walk in and see all the glass cases full of great stuff your like WOW!!! Here's the part that SUCKS once you point out to the bud tender all the things you want to buy that person will tell you "I don't know if any of this is in stock let me check" which of course NONE OF IT IS!!! All the brands you know and love are in the case but none of it is available basically we are talking about a BAIT AND SWITCH system they refer you to "like" brands and product stuff you've never heard of and the quality on most of this stuff is not even close, it's horrible shake joints they say are premium flower not to mention your paying 3X what you would normally which is fine I get it it's Las Vegas, but if your going to do that at the VERY LEAST you should be having high quality product period end of story this is the same exact thing that happened to me the first time but they did have a couple things I wanted so it didn't click what was really going on until this second trip. Basically this place is a Tourist Trap just like any other one except this is a cannabis tourist trap paying ridiculous prices for extremely low quality product. I always bring my own but I like to experience cool stuff so hence the trip to Planet 13 was greatly disappointed why go to all this trouble to make an amazing dispensary but ABSOLUTELY FAIL in the most important factor the actual product? The bud tender was great not her fault it's the company she even offered to ask if I could get a discount from the manager because they didn't have ANYTHING I was wanting to buy his response was No we have what we have NO DISCOUNT except 2 free crappy pre rolls because he knows this is exactly the way they run this place they are not going to turn around and give you a discount when they are running a bait and switch for them it doesn't make sense they are not a LOYAL BUYER / REPEAT CUSTOMER it's Vegas how many times do you go to Vegas a year? So my point is it's BURN AND TURN treatment for their customers they don't care if you come back again truly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME the only thing they have there that is legit...

POST WAS EDITED ON 3/30/2024 !!!!! I am so glad that somebody was listening, what a way to show your customers and your future customers that you actually value their input . Way to go Planet 13 Marketing, management you guys really came through. GREAT JOB!!!! Look forward to being there on 420 4/20/2024. Can’t wait to enjoy DAZE Cannabis lounge. The world’s biggest dispensary. This used to be my favorite dispensary in Las Vegas by far. They used to offer everyone that was a loyal member local deals. As of October 2022 they informed me on my birthday October 13. That they no longer allow non-residents to receive daily deals. Since that happened, I have not spent more than 40 bucks there. I have spent thousands there literally. But I will not be back because they are more less concerned about tourists than loyal customers. I understand that Las Vegas is a tourist city. But you do have people that visit Las Vegas like locals keep in mind loyal customers, are not local or non-local. Most residence of Las Vegas don’t shop there because of the high prices even with the daily deals. LCB OUT I hope this was helpful. And yes, this dispensary is recreational with a limit of 2 ounces per day for non-residence. so if you want to save yourself some money. Go to Thrive. Curaleaf.,RISE and Medizin. Even JARDIN. The deals are way better and they care more about the customers than just tourists. Don’t waste your money over there at Planet 13. It’s not worth it. Go look around said that you’ve been there and get out of there. The owners and investors must be crazy if they think people are going to keep paying those prices. They will not be around long believe me. I love how when you make good reviews. Sometime marketing owners and sales reps pay attention.. I am so glad to announce that Planet 13. Has brought back the loyalty program for non-locals.. the prices here are unbelievable. Now this is the Planet 13.. LCB know. I have to change their star rating from one to a four. And recommend that people sign up for the loyalty program. so they can enjoy good prices at the world’s biggest dispensary.
