Rollin Smoke Barbeque is a barbecue lover's paradise, and my recent visit left me utterly delighted. From the moment I walked in, the tantalizing aroma of smoked meats greeted me, which brought me back to my military days when I was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. The stage was set for an exceptional dining experience.
The highlight of Rollin Smoke is undoubtedly the barbecue itself. I ordered the brisket, ribs, and hot links platter, and each bite was a revelation. The brisket was expertly smoked to perfection, boasting a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that is the hallmark of exceptional barbecue. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, with a smoky flavor that was simply divine. The hot links were succulent and packed with smoky and spicy flavors.
What truly sets Rollin Smoke apart is the artistry in their smoking process. The meats are given the time and attention they deserve, resulting in a depth of flavor that's nothing short of spectacular. The smoke ring, the bark, and the juiciness all demonstrated the dedication to perfecting the craft of barbecue.
The barbecue sauces deserve special mention. They offer a range of flavors, from sweet and tangy to spicy, allowing you to customize your barbecue experience. I couldn't get enough of the spicy sauce—it had the perfect kick to complement the rich, smoky meats.
Rollin Smoke offers an impressive array of sides that are just as noteworthy as their barbecue. One standout is the mac 'n' cheese, which boasts a creamy and comforting texture that's sure to please. Another must-try is the Hush Puppies, which are savory, deep-fried round balls made from a cornmeal-based batter. These sides elevate the overall barbecue experience and serve as the perfect complement to any meal.
The atmosphere at Rollin Smoke is reminiscent of an old, rustic southern setting, complete with a laid-back vibe that's perfect for savoring great food with loved ones. The staff is friendly and attentive, further enhancing the overall atmosphere of hospitality that abounds here.
Rollin Smoke Barbeque is more than just a restaurant; it's a barbecue pilgrimage that every meat enthusiast should embark upon. The dedication to quality, the depth of flavor, and the sheer deliciousness of the barbecue make it a must-visit destination. My experience at Rollin Smoke was a celebration of smoky perfection, and I can't wait to return for another mouthwatering journey into the world of...
Read moreWhat irked me from the get go was the fact that a tip was requested before anything was prepared. What pissed me off was the fact that after I included the tip, the service did not deserve that tip!
I was the only one there initially when i placed my order. Then, gradually, a few more people came in. I sat patiently awaiting my rib tips, which I was led to believe, only can be purchased, at 1lb. minimum. That was not the case.
There were at least 3 females on duty. One who took my order, then disappeared. The other 2 were talking to other patrons about something that amounted to gossip.
After 5 minutes, I stood up from my seat and looked at the orders that were completed and ready to be dispersed, hoping that one of them would given to me. But, they were for those who came in after me.
After the 10 min mark, I stood up again and looked at the place where the orders were kept hoping I would be called, but I was not. After the other customers left, one of the females saw the exasperated look on my face and asked “are you waiting for something?”
My reply was yes, my order! She looked at the only bag left on the counter, then gave it to me. It had been there well before the other orders, but no one cared enough do the job that I gave a tip for, and hand me my food when it was completed. It just sat there until they initiated an inquiry based on my body language.
I try not to rude and let people do their job, but I was truly disappointed with the customer service. I had planned to go back or contact the store to request a refund for the tip I left, which I felt, was not deserved, or at least for it to go the cooks because I felt like an idiot.
Unfortunately, life got in the way and it was not a high priority. Never-the-less, I will not return to any of their establishments, and will tell any who asks, it’s not worth it. I shoulda learned from their dirty dining experience.
I still have my reciept if there are any doubters or to check the cameras for verification...
Read moreI'd been led to believe this place had great BBQ. It appeared to be mostly local patrons, they were busy, they had been honored with awards (albeit 10 and Eight Years Ago). 20/20 Hind Sight and I can't believe I allowed a primary sense, go to waste, but realized it too late in the game.
If I'd been blind I would have known that this place isn't smoking anything.
It doesn't smell like a Real BBQ joint Outside or Inside ... The Meat doesn't smell or taste smoked. I needed the BBQ Sauce just to make the meat palatable. We tried three different sides all of which were not worth eating. The Chipotle Coleslaw was dry and had the appearance of having been out most of the day prior to being served, in addition it just didn't taste good. The Green Beans that they charge a premium for although fresh and cooked al dente had little flavor and nothing going for them. The BBQ Beans were hideous and appeared to have bits of over cooked meat added to them that I presume was a method of disposing of unsaleable meat. Ironically the only thing we tried - that was offered by some other customers sitting next to us - was their Onion Rings which were Truly Tasty.
Another first time customer - who asked what we thought - got our first impression and all of our sides and nearly a half rack of Baby Back Ribs to see for themselves. Believe me, I don't give food to strangers. If I don't eat it I take it home. I was happy to do so this time.
We ended up with three sides because we ordered the Green Beans but were served the BBQ Beans ... Took a bit to get what we actually ordered.
In addition their prices, even if the food was good, are excessive.
Two people sharing a full rack with two sides and two drinks $53 without the tip included. With the tip $64
Our go to, back at home, which is actually decent is $36 Full Rack two sides included.
Maybe these guys smoked back in the day but there was no evidence of it...
