My friends and I decided we would choose happy hour at California Pizza kitchen at the mall. It's a lot of fun to watch the people go by. I chose a berry lemon drop martini, while my friends chose iced tea and sodas.They each chose one of the lunch combinations of salad and mini pizza, while I chose two starters. I chose the spicy buffalo cauliflower and the avocado chicken egg rolls. We waited, and we waited, and we waited for our drinks. The restaurant wasn't that busy, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally I got up to go see if maybe she had forgotten about us, and she appeared. Shortly thereafter, she brought our drinks, and the ones on the tables for customers surrounding us. The berry lemon drop ended up to be a very enjoyable drink with the berry managing to slightly tame the sourness of the lemon drop. I really enjoyed it. It was a bit of an additional wait to get our meal. When it finally came, it was delicious. But holy cow! The avocado club was enormous, as was the spicy buffalo cauliflower. The avocado club actually was chicken and avocado and greens mixed with a creamy avocado dressing inside a very large wonton wrapper and deep fried. There were three of them approximately 8 in long cut in half. I ate two and a half pieces, and two bites of cauliflower. The rest I brought home. Geez this will make two more meals for me at least! The cauliflower needed to be cooked just a tiny bit longer. But the reason for that is they were different sizes. So the smaller ones were cooked just perfectly while the bigger ones were mostly raw. I left the big ones to bring home since I wasn't able to cut them at the table. They also had some greens nestled in among the cauliflower, they were quite wilted, and didn't look appetizing. The cauliflower came with two dipping sauces, ranch and a spicy ranch. Both were delicious. After two bites and two and a half of the six pieces of the avocado club, I was just too full. I thought the avocado club was just a bit dry, but it was very flavorful with relatively tender small cube bits of chicken. It could have used just a tad more lime to wake it up a bit, but I would order it again. The two sauces were delicious. They were the same sauces included with the avocado club. We had been there so long, my friend decided that she would take her dessert home, so she ordered dessert to go and our check. We waited, and we waited, and we waited. Read moreWe went to the cpk in Fashion Show Mall and to my surprise we experienced something I have never experienced before in a restaurant. We came in during Happy Hour because I love their happy hour but normally go to the one in downtown summerlin where we are treated a lot better. Well we got to this one on December 27th at around 4:15pm and there was a wait so we sat at the bar. We had been sitting at the bar area for awhile and noticed tables that had been empty and we expected a couple of more people to show up. I asked one of the people at the front who were sitting guest and she said sure I can sit you at one of the tables in this area and the bartender informed her she couldn't do it because it was a wait. We said ok and just asked if we could add our name to the list while we were at the bar. Meanwhile there were two individuals who were next to us also sitting at the bar for around the same amount of time we were and also did not have their name on the list. They ended up asking the bartender for the same table we asked for and he seated them right away. When I questioned him about it he said oh they had a larger party but the sad part about this is our party was the same size. I dont like to make things about race but that's the way it seemed. This is the first time anything of this nature has ever happened to me. I did get a chance to speak to the manager who listened and said he would speak to the gentleman. However, that was also the same gentleman who the manager asked to put on his name tag and seemed to blow him off because 30 minutes later he still had not put it on. I'm not sure what the issue was but what happened was wrong and that is not the way customers should be treated. Like the manager said the bartender could have just come and gotten him and asked him about the table for us. Read moreI went to The Fashion Show Mall CPK with 4 other friends this afternoon and received very poor service. Everything started out fine, an average dining experience. We then witnessed tables who were sat after us receive their food. Then more and more. Finally I looked at my watch and it had been over 30 mins without receiving our food. (Normally this wouldn't bother me. I am in the restaurant industry.) The waitress proceeded to tell us they were plating our food and it would be right out. We then saw parts of our order proceed to go to other tables and be placed back on a table with no heat lamp. When our food was FINALLY ready it was 45 mins later. I proceeded to tell them we were just going to leave, it had been awhile. I told them I would've informed them sooner...had I seen my server. The server then said well the food was finally ready and I let her know that several dishes had been sitting on what I assumed was a staging area for over 10+ mins without a significant heat source to keep it warm. The only partial saving grace was a mediocre manager touch to the table. He apologized and boxed our food up, but not before having a small conversation with the rest of the team involved 5 feet away where we could hear. (The things said should NEVER be said on the floor in ear shot of a guest) We assured him that wasn't what we wanted and our friend just wanted to get and pay for his food and we were going to leave.
There are many steps that could've been taken to fix/save our dining experience, but they were not taken. Even communication from someone stating they knew it was taking awhile and they will assure that it is coming RIGHT OUT, not 10+ mins later would've...
