Sorry, I am Not a complainer.
I made reservations for.... MY husband myself and my adult daughter , who by the way , loves crystal light fixtures. Since the three of us all voted for Mr. trump in this recent election, And I was trying to find pretty a restaurant without the traffic on the strip. I thought let's go to the the DJT for Xmas night. . We our not tourist. My husband and I have lived in L.V. And have been independent business owners ( Steve Gordon's fine Men's Stores) since 1963. Now. Retired. Yes my husband, and my daughter really appreciate well prepared and good food. I , now in my later years, am not so in love with food , but I love beautiful surroundings, furnishings, table linens. The reason I picked this DTJ was because I thought it might be especially beautiful! We spent the morning at the home of my younger sons family, then moved on to my older sons family . And I wanted to end the evening , especially for my daughter in a Beautiful restaurant . My husband who enjoys his good food , at first said NO...but then changed his mind and said o.k. Just to please me. We have been married 55 yrs. I went to the DJT, , as I said. ,preferring beauty over the Best Chefs in our city. Well, it was very pretty! The Crystals over the bar area were lovely. There were linen table cloths , which I did ask about before I secured my reservations, because I use linen cloths in my family dinners every nite. . These linen table cloths, which I love the feel of, were covered with a glass top. Makes no sense to me but, o.k. I can accept that. But.... what I cannot except was........ my Batista, even though a lovely young lady from Ethiopia, very polite was very very slow to our request. My martini was exceptional smooth, just slow in coming. Ok now,to the important part , the part that I. already told you was not my first matter of importance. I and my husband ordered the prime rib special, since there was no rib eye( my favorite) on the menu . My daughter ordered the fillet. I requested my prime rib to be medium rare. When it arrived there was no pink to be seen. It was very medium to say the least. Ok. I did not complain, I said nothing until I began eating. As I said before I usually do not like to complain. But.... my entire plate of food was COLD! I like my dinner hot! I called my waitress and said " I give you my permission to stick your finger in my twice baked potato to witness that it is COLD! And so was my husband and daughters dinner. My husband ordered a shrimp cocktail and my daughter and I were impressed. With the gorgeous contemporary plate it was served in. But our three Cesar's salad's were served to us in what looked looked like was a child's cereal bowl! We did not complain but were never offered or served any kind of bread and butter with our salad.which I would have enjoyed! On the whole, I must say that I was very disappointed at what I thought would be a lovely Christmas Dinner! P.s. As I said ,I have lived in this city for city for 50 yrs. Christmas has always been our slow season, the DJT restaurant we were eating in was HALF filled. No reason or excuse for this Lack of customer service. I am only stating this because I am embarrassed for the city . The city I always Loved! I rate this restaurant , beacause of the crystal lights only 2! I am also positive that Mr. Trump would also be...
Read moreFirst of all, this "restaurant" is located in the lobby. It is tacky. Hostess was pleasant and friendly. Server was excellent. Food was just "okay." But what gets me is the lack of care in customer experience. My salmon was presented upside-down and looked like a burnt and dried out garlic bread... I flipped it over and admit it looked better from the top as opposed to the skin side. The samon tasted fine - nothing great. It was a tad chewy. We ordered a cheesecake to share (couple's overnight get-away. We're locals). This tasted about how you'd expect from a frozen, thawed, refrozen... thawed cheesecake slice. Grainy. Flavorless. Inedible. We didn't eat much. My wine choice was excellent. Went with the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Matched well with my salmon. If you're staying at the Trump (which I do NOT recommend) this is an okay option for food... but really, you're in Vegas, just about EVERYWHERE else will taste better and have a better ambiance. 3 stars. Neutral. Take it or leave it. I certainly will not return... I might actually feel this is a 1 star, but for the employees who do a fine job despite the...
Read moreSo my significant other and I stopped here for lunch on our last day in Vegas. We ordered the lunch special which was a ham and gruyere sandwich and a bowl of mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was AMAZING. The ham and gruyere sandwich was okay — there were sweet pickles on here which really took away from the goodness. We both ordered an alcoholic mixed drink and they were fine. However, I was looking up at the bar when I saw our server sniffing someone’s drink. Then, she let a random guest at the bar smell it because “it smells so good.” A few seconds later, she walks over to our table and hands my boyfriend the drink...for a higher class establishment, I would appreciate if my beverages weren’t getting sniffed by random people and our server before...
