So this year is the first year I had a season pass and honestly don't know if I'll go back any time soon.
I gave 2 stars because it's just nice to have a local water park and obviously kids love it but my experiences there make me feel the owners totally bank on that and do not care about their customers or their safety.
The kids cove area is severely lacking and totally UNSAFE for littles. The entire season so many things were broken and just stayed that way. Two big patrol boats in the main water area, water jets on half of the little slides, the water gun shooters, the crank water spout machine... not to mention part of the rope fence meant to keep your toddler from falling of the higher cement platform, which also has a lot of broken PVC pipe rails, broken water spouts, and a huge hole in the uneven cement stairs on the play ship structure that's on the platform. I went one Sunday, got there when the park opened and there was SO much trash in and out of the water at the kid cove area! Candy wrappers, Styrofoam cup pieces, plastic cups, adult drinks, etc. It was disgusting.
They do a REALLY poor job of cleaning. Again, got there when the park opened (and had visited a few days before also) and going in the wave pool and on the lazy river there was lots of sand from the outside area, tons of feathers, leaves, bugs, bandaides, alcoholic drinks left from the day before on the sides, a broken broom bottom, etc. I realize as a day goes on things like this will happen, but for all that garbage to be there first thing?? Even still, there's no cleaning crew to make rounds during the day every once in a while??
Another thing I noticed that got worse as the season went on was the lifeguards. When we first went, I asked a life guard the time and the lifeguard told me they weren't aloud to have phones. However, later in the season, not only were there much fewer life guards, I saw several on phones.
I also think it's ridiculous you can't bring in outside food/drinks. Now, for the most part I can understand- they want to make money off their food/drinks. But water?!?! Especially for toddlers and pregnant women, with the ungodly heat... water is essential. And the fact that the park won't allow it in shows their greed. Especially along with the lack of care and maintenance to the park.
Overall, I feel the owners of the Waterpark really do not care about their customers or their safety and only care about the money they bring in.
The amount of safety concerns and broken items in the kids cove, the amount of trash around the park, and lack of maintenance and care of the park, really makes me reconsider getting another pass or even going...
Read moreMy mother and I planned a surprise trip for my nieces (5&10yrs). We are from Corpus Christi so we figured we can support our local places. It was my 1st time there and it was a bad experience. We arrived around 1130am-1200pm. Wasn't too busy yet since it had barely opened for the day. We waited almost 3 hrs to be able to find a float for them which they are suppose to provide like any other water park and it wasn't even that busy. After finding the first one I figured maybe if I talk to someone they'd be able to help and was so very wrong. I was brought to a lady by the name of Maya or Amaya and when I brought it to her attention she could have cared less. She couldn't even look me in the eye when I spoke with her and she pretty much blew me off. She did NOTHING. I wouldn't have made it such a big deal but these were little kids who waited hrs to get a float. They were so full of excitement that quickly turned into sadness because they couldnt do much without a float. All they wanted to do was have fun together. Thanks to Maya we had 2 upset children and angry parents. We spent more time waiting for a float than actually being able to enjoy ourselves. And we paid for this? I ran into another lady who was having the same issue and she had rented the cabana which is their VIP and they're suppose to have their own floats as well and she didn't either. She wasn't too happy either. After knowing all this I started paying attention to the poor kids looking around for floats who didn't have the voice of a parent to speak up for them. Not that it made a difference because Maya didn't care. It was a complete FLOP I will NEVER go again and I will be sure to spread the word around about our experiences and how bad their service was. This place seemed unprepared for a not so busy day? Smh... it was a Friday. Last weekend before school started. Again it wasn't even that busy and still couldn't find a float. They need to work on having what they are suppose to before they want to open to the public. INCLUDING better workers who actually care about their customers satisfaction. Very disappointed in my local waterpark. Won't let them upset...
Read moreExtremely disappointed and embarrassed I took family from out of town here because I thought this was a nice place. We came here on a Wednesday morning and arrived about 15 minutes after they opened. The area around the pools was dirty, I saw 3 or 4 bandaids stuck to the floor and there was trash floating in the pool. That's unacceptable, especially right after they first opened for the day. Our toddler daughter was wearing floaties that we had brought from home, the blow up kind that goes around kids' arms. After playing in water for about 5 minutes we were told by staff that she was not allowed to wear those floaties. I asked why and was told that they weren't approved and that we could rent an approved life jacket from them. To be fair, the life jacket was free with a deposit. However, the life jacket didn't fit my daughter and in the water was pushing up into her face and actually made her struggle in the water. Understandably, she wanted to take it off. Now, I might understand making them wear the life jackets for safety reasons. But what bothers me is that apparently Hurricane Alley prefers to have toddlers in their pools without any kind of floatation device rather than letting them wear regular floaties. There is no rule that says they have to wear floaties/life jackets! Due to her struggling with the life jacket we ended up carrying her around the lazy river without the life jacket and apparently that was "safer" than letting her play in one foot deep water wearing her own floaties. My husband went to talk to a manager about the issue. He was told that apparently it says on the website that those floaties aren't allowed. He came out to show us on his phone about 10 minutes later. At that point we didn't care to look at it. Also, our bags were searched when we first came in and either the staff searching them didn't see the the floaties (what's the point of searching bags then?), or saw them and either didn't know the rule either or chose not to say anything. We had been looking forward to having a fun day here, but the lack of cleanliness and common sense made sure we...
