I know this review is long, but please read before visiting to make yourself aware of the risks.
I visited UBreakIFix in cranberry about three months ago to have my phone repaired and have been left holding the bag. When I brought it in, my phone worked fine. All the features worked except for broken glass (front and rear). To cause the initial break, I dropped my phone decently far (probably from about 6 feet onto concrete) which, understandably caused it to crack.
I did not have insurance on my phone, therefore I chose to pay for the repair out of pocket (nearly $600 for a non-OEM screen & rear glass). I decided to do so, because the man at the store assured me that it would go well with them, and that if anything did go wrong they would replace my phone for me. At the time I believed him...
After the repair was completed I was excited to have my phone back, but in the first day noticed a problem. A small pink dot was on the screen, (noticed the evening after bringing the phone home) and there were problems with the touchscreen where it would randomly touch different parts of the screen. Worried the phone may be more prone to break with this in mine, I ordered and put on an otterbox case within the next day to better my odds and protect my investment.
I emailed UBreakIFixs' support team, and they said I could bring it in to have it fixed. I was busy for the next two weeks and was not able to bring it in. Before by bringing it in, one week later my phone cracked from a 1-2 foot fall, from the edge of a shelf in my bathroom. Not a big fall, and with the otterbox I was shocked and very disappointed to see the back glass completely shattered. Regardless, that didn't change my schedule and I was unable to bring the phone in for another week.
The next week, not even a month into my freshly repaired phone, I dropped my phone about 2.5 feet (from my pocket) onto a wood floor, and the display completely stopped working. No response, and it was completely black. Note: the front screen isn't cracked at all, although it is 100% not functional... I assume they just didn't plug it in all the way or something. I went to the store, they recommend I open a claim with their customer service team.
I did, and after about 3 days of talking on the phone with them, they determined that it was my fault because the phone was cracked.
Sure, I understand they have a policy, but the phone should not have broken from those falls. Especially, when it took more to damage it in the first place, with a much thinner case, I pleaded with them for them to do their part and fix this, but all they offered was a discount on ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR REPAIRS.
Obviously, I was not willing to shell out a bunch more money to have them mess it up again. I really hope they are willing to work this out with me, because I would love to find a solution.
Anyways... If you are into fixing screwed up electronics, keep an eye out on EBay for the UBreakIFix, iPhone 12 pro max special, and good luck fixing their mistakes!
(I am happy to add photos shortly if anyone would like to see the phone)
To end, you may have a good experience here, but I did not. I'm tremendously disappointed in the service, especially, since going into this I thought I was getting a premium grade repair. I wish you the best if you decide to...
Read moreTo be completely honest - this was an absolute horrendous experience. I would never recommend the Cranberry Township, PA store to anyone. I dropped my I-Pad off on July 9, 2024 for a charging issue - sometimes it would take a charge - other times it would not. I was told it would be about 2 weeks for them to send it out, have it looked at, and diagnosis of the issue. Well 4 weeks went by - no phone call or anything. So, I stop by to inquire the status. I was told there were multiple attempts to contact me - but the number was coming back as disconnected. I asked what number they were dialing - the number read back to me is my active cell phone number and has been active for 20 years. So, the person at the Cranberry store proceeds to tell me that it could not be fixed - it was the charging port. It was taking a charge sporadically when I dropped it off in July but now it was not. So, the associate said he would send it back out to a different repair person to see if that particular person could fix it. I said ok. Another 4 weeks goes by - still no contact from the store. Stop by again and the excuse I get was now it is the mother board was dead. But just to make sure - he said it would send it out again to a different technician. So again, I say that's fine. Another 4 weeks goes by. We are at 3 plus months now. I still do not have an answer of why all of the sudden an I-pad that I had dropped off in July with a charging issue - not does not work at all. I was told the battery was dead. I was told the mother board was fried; I was told it was the charging port. So, then I was told again that "Let my manager look at it and he will give you a call this weekend." Well, another 2 weeks go by - still nothing. So, finally the week before Thanksgiving - I call again. I am told the unit is not fixable - still really no reason given. So, I let the associate know that I will come pick it up. At the risk of becoming very irate with the associates there - after the run-around I have received. I had my son who was home on break from Penn State and is a Cyber Security guru - pick up the I-Pad. He went in to get it and asked for the repair report of all the actions that were taken on the unit since it was dropped off. The report could not be produced. There were not any records of any repairs that were attempted on the I-Pad. Also, after being handed the unit - my son noticed that there were multiple figure prints on the unit. He also noticed there were no suction cups on the screen, these marks would have been consistent with the type of inspections the associate claims were performed on the unit. My son then asked for the customer service number so he can try and get the service report. The associate gave him an "800" number that was fictitious. He went to google and got the correct information. So, with all of this - something is just not right. I drop off the unit for a charging issue - it comes back as dead to the world.
With this type of experience and this type of customer service - I could never recommend "UBREAKIFIX" to anyone. Please if anyone would like to discuss further I would be happy to speak to a live...
Read moreI am truly grateful for the around the cloud Over the Phone Support provided by Asurion, as well as the Repair Technician Team at the locations of the uBrakeiFix Shops. Truly amazing, highly appreciated, and extremely valuable for the people who are in need of periodic device repairs, and would rather pay for the ability to use the service as needed versus the other option; paying thousands of dollars out of pocket, upfront, in order to replace or repair any damaged or stolen device. Not only does this service help you save money and always have you covered, THEY ARE THE ONLY DEVICE INSURANCE SERVICE WHO WILL COVER EVERY SINGLE ONE OF ALL DEVICES SUPPORTED BY THE SERVICE THAT ARE IN THE HOME! As I stated previously, and feel the need to reiterate for the sake of ensuring the comprehension of the subject; This is the only, Apple/MacOs Approved, and top pf the line insurance company that has been able to maintain a consistent record for outstanding customer satisfaction in the services of their respective competitors, who will never be able to provide any of the quality services Asurion has promised, provided and will continue providing for us with the most reliable solutions, with the highest quality of services available or at the best possible prices. I have replaced numerous broken iPhones, and am now having my 2017 Macbook Pro serviced by this company to replace a broken laptop screen, Keyboard and touchpad, along with a data recovery process ran due to Apple's own Support Center inability to provide me with any resolution through numerous phone calls, prompting me with countless troubleshooting methods to resolve my problems. I am confident in the ability possessed by Asurion and their team to make an easily attainable solution to the issue, without any doubt, and without any of my own personal assistance either. Astoundingly privileged to say for all of those repairs and maintenance that I asked for them to do on my Macbook, I only had to pay a 1-time fee in the amount of $105 dollars and some change, and without this company, and the relationship between them and I that's been curating for years now, I would have been paying for over the price of a brand new macbook to fix mine, or replacing my Mac all out of pocket and not only that, all monwy would more than likely be needed to be paid up front. I would have been stuck with no laptop due to this, because i don't have the funds that would require, but instead I have Asurion and uBrakeiFix to rely heavily upon in cases like this one, and am grateful for that being not only my personal preference, they do not have anything else they'd rather do than be able to help me and all of their customers in any situation that is related to their business model! I'm impressed and excited to see how my Macbook looks whenever I get to pick it up after the uBrakeiFix update me on the completion of the Wizardry done by the Cranberry location's own Jack the Tech, in order to satisfy my needs and make my Macbook run like a brand new machine, with whatever spelles and tricks that he has to in order to make me a satisfied customer and make hik my Mac Hero...
