Revising my review from 5 star to 1 given the incident that happened today and the rude staff at this location. I've been coming to this location for the past 1.5 years. Recently, I had a shoulder injury and was advised not to do rower and do range of motion exercises on the floor. On Sunday, I came to this location, signed up, asked for the strider instead of row and was given a card "Strider 1". As I entered to the studio, I also advised the coach, that I'd be swapping rower with strider. So far so good. I started with the Tread, and when switching to rower, I moved to use Strider. Another person showed up with a similar card for Strider. Of course, I want to use Strider and she wants to use Strider as well. She goes to the front desk and a lady comes and tells me their policy is that you can only swap tread with a strider. A news to me as no one advised me of such policy beforehand. I told the lady, I am doing this at other studios without any problems, and she says, this is our policy, you have to get off the machine, use bike, or leave the studio. Extremely rude. I am a paid member, have signed up for the class, reserved the strider machine and by no means was advised of the policy beforehand, yet had to go through this with the staff in front of other. They basically treated me like s* in front of the whole studio. I told them I need to talk to manager, but Bobby Naluz no where to be found and I am told, dont waste your time, he will tell you the same thing. Very poor in resolving issues caused by them and horrible treatement of paid members. This of course happens when you let a business run by a series of immature, junior employees including the manager. Overall, zero stars if...
Read moreI have so many friends who are obsessed with Orange Theory but I was so intimidated to try it out but I’m SO glad I did and you will be too! I love that the overall class is broken into three stations (treadmill, rower, and weight floor) but each days focus and exercises are different and the coaches are so good about modifying each and every exercise to your needs but also pushing you that extra bit if you need it. I personally cannot workout by myself at the gym and you can forget it if you tell me I’m going to be running, but I have found my workout happy place at orange theory and the community specially at the Cupertino location. I have gone to multiple locations in the Bay Area and Cupertino is my favorite for multiple reasons. I really appreciate how the coaches really try and get to know their members and help each and every person with the goals and the front desk staff is always so kind and helpful with every and any question anyone has. Also this location is by far the cleanest and offers two bathrooms and two showers that are both always stocked and maintained. If you are looking to try your first class, there is a $12 fee which is waived if you end up signing up for one of their three month to month memberships. I initially signed up for their basic 4x/month pass but quickly switched to their unlimited pass when I got hooked! Trust me when I say it only takes one class and if you’re a little nervous, convince a friend to go with you and grab food afterwards because there are so many yummy options around the Cupertino...
Read moreCouch potato of 6+ years reporting in. Their setup is that there's 3 tiers of membership that go from 89$ and up. 1st tier gives four 1h training sessions with coach in class of 10 or so each month. 2nd tier gives 8 for 129$, third is unlimited for 189$. 5$ to rent their fitness monitor each sessiom, or buy outright for personal use with their free app via Bluetooth. Coach Rudy was very upbeat and encouraging, but that seems to be the norm among all coaches here.
4h a month seems expensive for 89$, but this workout will be brutal and effective. I went from 350 calories a workout (that I could get from machines/monitors) to over 850 in an hour. my experience was that we alternated between rowing machines, squats, and (light) weighted exercises for 30 min, and jogging/sprinting for the 2nd half. I vomitted between the 2 parts because I had soup the previous night and due to my very accomplished career as a potato. so don't eat soft foods if you know you're working out and not fit. If you're a beginner like me, you likely won't be able to sustain more than 1 session a week, which is good because those sessions don't roll over on the monthly plan. Get the standard packages for rollover.
I see this gym as a supplemental portion of my fitness plan. I would push myself here and train more slowly at another gym on my own pace. Eventually, I hope to see the unlimited plan as a viable option for me. I see hope for a mid-career lateral jump from couch...
