Update: For the thoughtless/automated message of "Thank you for choosing Meet Fresh and leaving a review. We hope to see you again soon." -- we're dropping the scores across the board from a more generous score to a more critical score. Original review at the bottom
Other details I missed out previously: The Passionfruit Sorbet scoop was... well... mediocre. Mostly because it was forced on me by the kiosk, and didn't match up with what I ordered and wanted to eat. That was an extra $1.25 charge there, you know? And not impressive enough to make me think "I might actually want to try a full serving of this" on top of that. Plus the kiosk was not very responsive so ordering anything on that particular machine was a pain in the ass. Just trying to select things wasn't functioning well and properly, plus we ended up accidentally pulling up some device menu somehow while trying to select some items. That's why we didn't bother trying to remove the extra item at the time. And it was disappointing.
Don't bother expecting to see me again anytime soon, 'cuz I sure won't be going back by personal choice. Granted, this is one of the few places that actually serves hot grass jelly -- unfortunately, I can just wait for it to be a seasonal item in certain other shops in the area, so I will look there instead first
For intents and purposes, the food and drinks are good. There's nothing particularly wrong with the business itself. The issue... is the kiosk for placing orders. We've come here twice today, and both times... the kiosk would add a random Passionfruit Sorbet Scoop and charge extra for it to our order. The first time we sorta ignored it and ended up bringing it home. The second time we had to manually remove it from our order during checkout. This... is an issue that if I were feeling less generous would drop a score all the way down to 1 star. This is ignoring the annoying bit of asking for a phone number to place orders as though everyone is guaranteed to be carrying an operable mobile device to recieve messages for orders, which on occasion I will straight up reconsidering whether I want to bother placing an order here (and I've done so once and straight up left because my phone was already out of power and couldn't be bothered) if I am not allowed to skip that step
This is not our first time here. So it is baffling why this issue of an addition scoop of Passionfruit Sorbet is getting added to our order for 1.25 when we were not looking for it. Shoving additional items onto an unsuspecting customer and making them pay for it is absolutely unacceptable as a business practice. I could overlook it if it were for free, but that is not what is happening here. So we're docking considerable points here. We'll reconsider the scoring after you've fixed this issue. Thanks, and...
Read moreNO FOOD. NO REFUND. NO APOLOGY. Minus 5 stars.
After waiting for 30 minutes in line to order, and then another 40 minutes for the food, I was told by a worker there that they don't ingredients and will not make any more orders. He told us to leave our receipts with them, and that they will process the refund TOMORROW. NOT NOW. TOMORROW. There were probably 12 more customers or groups in the same situation as I. Someone challenged, is that even legal? You took our money, made us wait, told us there is no food, and cannot process refund there? When we asked for a manager, we were told there was no manager on site and there was no way to give us the refund there.
This is the worst management situation I have ever encountered. How can the store tell us to just leave the receipts there? How do we know that the refund will actually be process?
I was in the line at about 8:30 pm, in the door about 8:45 pm, completed my order at 9:04 according to my receipt. There were still a long line of people after me who continued to order. People who ordered after us got their food. We kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Finally at 9:40 I asked where is my food? Then I was told that it was never made because they ran out of one ingredient. Why wasn't I told earlier? Like I said, there were 10+ groups of angry people there in a similar situation.
You should have had a manager on-site. Someone needs to make sure that people no longer get in line to order at posted closing time. For people who already placed order, you need to deliver!!! When you run out of food, you need to tell the customers so we don't waste our time to wait there. You need to have some way to refund the customer immediately. You should compensate the customer for such a horrible situation.
Oh also, we received no APOLOGY whatsoever. When a different customer mentioned that she would leave a bad review online, the worker, J. C., said, GO AHEAD! Wow, this is how you treat your customers after you failed them?
I collected the pictures of receipts of a few groups of people. There were more that I didn't get a chance to take picture of their receipts.
I submitted a complaint at BBB. Case number is...
Read moreOverhyped and extremely mediocre. Went to try this place for the first time after another place had closed, and we'd heard good things so we were optimistic, but it was just a really meh experience with bad service for the price.
Me and my friend both added an order of sesame rice balls to our dessert, but when I went to pick it up I noticed they were absent for both of our desserts. When I asked if they had included them in our order, the server just gave me a blank stare and when I asked again, she said no you didn't order it, I told her I paid for it, it's on the receipt. She went and checked, confirmed, and said they were out. I asked why they didn't just tell us, and she went and looked again and found me two and put them in a bowl.
I had to ask for my friend's order as well, and she said well we didn't include them because we were out. I said well then what are you going to add instead? We already paid for another topping, and they made no effort to inform us they were out, and seemed like they were trying to hope we wouldn't notice.
This was a small thing, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and could've been easily resolved with a better attitude and the slightest effort. They were good enough to make it right when I was firm, but I shouldn't have had to be the one to guide them through what they should do.
All in all, just disrespectful service, the toppings were all good and chewy, but the main desserts like the cold tofu tasted powdery and was extremely mediocre/subpar and worse than powdered tofu from a supermarket and more expensive, and the shaved ice had big solid ice chunks you don't even find in lesser known dessert shops.
We felt scammed and sad and let down and honestly if we ever are hungry for toppings maybe we'll stop by but we're not coming back and overpaying for any big desserts anymore :(( Wasted money but now we know and you...
