Update- removed a star: My last visit wasn't so great. Please be more mindful about people's time. Peter serviced for a pedicure, while ? (name, unknown) performed a manicure afterwards. Requested for services simultaneously but seemingly staff availability was a bit thin so not an option. The game between LSU and S. Carolina (women's basketball) was a good watch, but the service time could've been cut in half. Mainly two issues: -Peter got up twice to address a customer issue up front. Appeared to be a service issue with 3 other employees standing towards a customer. While he did apologize for the interruptions, this extended my Pedi spa service. And for an avid runner, the the callus removal could've been a bit better. -Ended up with cuticle nicks (flawed use of cuticle remover). Had my thumbs and right sore and swollen for a couple of days. Was starting to worry of possible infection by day 3. *Unable to upload photos. Then despite suitable UV dryer time and the bug-like spray, polish still wasn't set dry (hands). King was not it for my nails this time around.
Initial visit: During a recent nippy AM post-Target run, decided to try out KN. Well overdue for a pedicure, it was great to get there not long after opening time. Busy is great for them but a sparsely packed house on the weekend & no wait time's always a plus. Most times a pedicure only person, my as of late nail care has been met @ my cousin's sorority sister's make-shift boutique hair & nail bar run out of her home- very nice digs too. However, this being located on the other side of town (288, 3rd ward area). So closer-by option more ideal. Opting for the French tips, the nail tech was courteous, professional and efficient. The area around the inner cuticle area of my right toe is super sensitive. Taking heed a mention of that, the nail tech was careful about navigating the cuticle clippers in & around that area. *I'd once experienced a nail salon (will remain nameless) where the nail tech cut too far in and it bled (albeit briefly) something ugly and stung something awful. Needless to say, never was I to return there. I found the rest of the staff to be polite and accommodating. A full-size bottle of water was offered. I would have liked just a bit more of a pink tint but the results were great. I left feeling like, when in the area, this may be my occasional go-to for nail...
Read moreI’ve been coming to the Cypress location since it opened and have never had any issues.. until now! To keep it short, after multiple issues with getting the lady to understand what type of pedicure I wanted, I ended up receiving a Shellac pedicure from ‘Chi’ yesterday. He was great and I love my results.
I regret my lip waxing experience that resulted in me having a burn on my lip 3days before my birthday and trip. The lady prepped my lip with rubbing alcohol. Just imaging the fumes entering your nose without warning. Let’s keep going to the waxing technique. I am use to a standard upside down “U” technique to remove hairs for a lip wax. Not this visit. By the time she pulled up the first strip (that might as well) felt like she was in my nose. Her technique including both the normal and wide upside down “U”, practically my cheek and to my surprise my chin. She finished with aloe gel basically all over the lower half of my face. By the time I felt her inching up to wipe under my eye, I immediately got up and reached for the tissue to remove all the gel she applied to the lower half of my face. I immediately went home and applied Neosporin to my top lip repeatedly for the remainder of the day because I knew I’d have a scar/scab in the morning. Today is the next day, and low and behold the red scar/scab is there.
Prepping the area with rubbing alcohol before hair removal makes it difficult for the pores and hair to be removed and the customer pays for it afterwards if not during. I’ve noticed a change since the change in management but nothing to make me no longer want to come in for services. This visit (7/8/2023) was my last. I am not looking forward to my birthday/trip with an indeed fully waxed lower part of my face and a...
Read moreI am kinda new to this nail salon with 3 visits so far. I feel lucky that i had Mai at the first time. She is nice, professional and quick. I am very happy with my nails she did. BUT, i was arranged to try another technician today as Mai was busy at the time when I arrived. Unluckily, this technician Drassy (similar pronunciation like this, a tall and choppy lady comparing to Asian size at desk #2) was horrible: tricky, non-honest and unprofessional in her skills. When i chose the color and double confirmed with her the cost, she quoted me $50 for powder, probably thinking i was new customer?! Really?! It was the highest price i ever heard! Then, she finally lowered the right price that i know of. So tricky! While she was buffing my nails at the beginning, she suddenly slipped and peeled off my finger skin with that electric buffing tool. The blood dripped out right away, and i can see my fresh after my skin was pealed. It was super painful as the skin there is very sensitive! I have been doing my nails for more than 15 years with different nail salons in different countries and cities. It was my first time experiencing like this! It is dangerous to have not-well-trained technician out to do the customers' nail. Only because of Mai's good work, i give this salon 3 stars or else it would not reach even one star because they sent dangerous technician out there. Be careful and mindful of this technician. I hope she would not injure any customers and this salon can only put well-trained technicians out, or else you would lose some potential...
