I once left a 5 star review, but have now edited it a one star and will not be returning. This used to be one of my favorite spots to visit and relax in.
I recently visited with a dear friend of mine and we both love cigars and the culture surrounding it. The venue for Cigar Art is ideal for intimate conversations. My friend was smoking a cigar as we walked in (and we both knew that it might be taboo, but wanted to to purchase one in respect to the establishment). We walked pass an older gentleman who works there and he didn't say anything.
We walk into the humidor and a lady enters and kindly states that he's not allowed to smoke inside the humidor. He respectfully asks if he can leave it out in the lounge and apologizes. This lady states that she HAS to be in there with us (hovering) and we no longer felt welcome.
We purchase 2 sticks total and the older gentleman who was near the front check us out. He kindly asks us,"What are you gentlemen up to tonight?" I tell him,"We came here." Reiterating the fact that we want to support this place.
I go use the restroom and as I was walking towards the front where my friend is to sit down and enjoy the 2 cigars that we purchased, this gentleman respectfully tells us that we cannot sit inside with the outside cigar my friend brought us because their new management has a strict NO OUTSIDE TOBACCO policy. He tells us that we can use the table outside.
This is understandable, but it's the fact that he brought it up AFTER we purchased our cigars and did not make us feel as welcome patrons. Had I not already cut and lit my cigar, we would've asked for a refund and left without making a scene.
This is not a review that I wanted to leave because I did really enjoy visiting, but it was out last time. I am not pleased with the way the new management is running the shop now because it doesn't seem as though they trust...
Read moreI asked the arrogant young guy with long hair wearing old hightops and tshirt for help finding a cigar and when I thanked him he responded with "it is what it is". I had no idea he even worked there at first- he just stood less than a foot behind me staring.
As a background I was wearing loafers, a polo, and my Rolex sub- not dressed- nor acting like someone that would steal an $8 cigar.
Him and an old guy stood awkwardly close to me and my gf watching every move we made in the humidor and even commented about me picking up cigars to each other as "hes finger f**king everything".
Usually go here out of convenience and to support local business- but by the way my girlfriend and I were treated last night, Im guessing they dont know ordering cigars online is much cheaper and vendors offer the same knowledge.
My advice is that if you're going out in bishop arts bring a cigar you order online or from one of the many other DFW shops. Have had good experiences up to this point- typically with helpful...
Read moreDefinitely not my go to spot. Though I have been here on a little more than a couple of occasions here are my 2 honest issues. 1. Not enough seating, but plenty of open used space. That's negligible. The more important one is the young lady working there literally stood over my shoulder (I'm AA) pretty much doing the hurry up and buy thing. Trying to rush me to pick something so she could rejoin her buddies at the bar. I assured her I'm more than capable of choosing my own cigar, or rather letting my cigar choose me. And I wasn't here to steal any merchandise. "Well this is our policy" umm I've been here 3 times and nobody has ever escorted me through the selection process. Rushing me with the fake friendly decorum. In fact I frequent many lounges from the colonies to south FW. Nobody follows me around anywhere else. I don't fault the cigar lounge I just think they hired the wrong person for...
