I've gone to three locations Waterloo, Iowa city, and davenport. At the first one in Waterloo the girl was extremely rude (ofcourse as most Plato's run on cattiness). Plato's is basically a place where immature teens play customer service they have the look, just standing there and appearing kind. But when it comes to it they will backstab you in the back with low prices for your garments and not an ounce of empathy. First off if you are going to TRY and sell your used clothing to them. Only expect about 10% of the bag to be accepted, if you get lucky. Most times they will reject clothing even if it's gorgeous or a namebrand. (unless they are desperate because the clients aren't returning to them because they've been treated badly)After they go through your stuff don't expect clarity and directness. They will not just put what they accepted on the desk to show you and be frank. Instead expect a big dishonest demeaning show by placing a bin a foot and 6 inches high to before you, and expect these exact words "this is what we could take" And also expect a very bad attitude with that. Very snobbish and demeaning as if "they are doing you a favor" and not the other way around. (we bring them stuff to provide for their customers) Also if you love shopping at Plato's because they have "great prices" you might want to stop turning a blind eye to the process of screwing over those of us who bring them the clothing you so love. You are a part of the problem too. I wouldn't be surprise if Plato's starts getting shut down... I know for sure I'll be speaking up about the whole situation of discourtesy and bad customer appreciation to all of my friends. Goodwill is a whole lot better. At least unknown I will be helping the disabled. I would rather donate all my namebrand items: Hollister, J. Crew, Eddie Bauer, Nike shoes and anything else to them than to be treated without an ounce of respect by untrained teen staff. In fact Plato's has really made me appreciate other thrift stores such as stuff etc, or practically...
Read moreI cannot say enough about Plato's amazing stylist, Isis, and the style session we had with her this past month. We scheduled a style session with her and throughout the process she treated my daughter as if she were her own. She listened meticulously to our specific requests and created so many cute and fashionable outfits for her to try on during the session. Isis expertly matched clothes that suited my daughter's body type, her personal style, her clothing needs, and additionally met our request for outfits that were more modest. Isis's personality was extremely enthusiastic and caring, and she was as excited during the 1 hr. "fashion show" as we were! We had a blast and were amazed at how perfect each outfit was for my daughter, liking them all so much that we ended up purchasing nearly 100% of what Isis selected. Now my daughter is set for clothes for the school year, at a fraction of the cost of what we would have had to spend at a full-price retailer. Thank you, Isis and...
Read moreDon't waste your time... Prices are high for second hand stuff and they don't actually purchase your "gently used clothing" I went in with 2 bags of nice clothing that was in Great condition for being used to sell to them, things from this year. I walked around their store while waiting for them to go through my items and noticed that most of the clothing I brought was similar to what things they had in the store. When I got the text message that they had completed the buy and went to the counter, the employee handed me all of my items back. They didn't buy anything from me. I had the same problem with the Plato's Closet in Kingsport, Tennessee (among several other issues with that store) I say don't waste your time with ANY of the Plato's Closet stores, their prices are outrageous for second hand, regardless of the brand, and after speaking to many of my acquaintances, can't find anyone they've ACTUALLY purchased used...
