Worst place to visit as a tourist. The owner is a racist bigot and not one staff member smiles or looks happy. The owner doesn't allow photos Hello? It's a tourist attraction. 5 stars for Seamus and a store you should check out if you like nostalgia. There a lot of neat stuff to look at, they hand out free samples at the door. When I checked it's $1.25/oz, I grabbed a big handful and it came out to $5.

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Virginia City Mercantile! The owner (presumably?) was standing outside handing out free samples and making conversation with passersby, which brought us in the door. We put together a bag of our favorite flavors of taffy, but there were many gift items we wanted! I see in other reviews that customers were upset about inflated prices, but let's keep in mind the location of this store and the way they have to maintain a very old, historic building.
