The Roasting House — Restaurant in Dayton

The Roasting House was a pleasant surprise on our way back up the "other side of the street" while doing some wild west sight seeing. The shops in Virginia City get a little redundant and my group of road weary travelers needed a pick me up. We'd already enjoyed excellent bbq up the street so I can't comment on the food. I had an iced coffee, black, brewed from their Panama Boquete city roast. Perfect simple delicious iced coffee. I bought 12 ounces of the beans and am enjoying it nice and hot this morning while I write this review. This is fantastic coffee. One of us had an iced mocha and proclaimed it the best she'd ever had. Even named the one that it had surpassed. I had a sip. Really good. The other members of our group were equally pleased. The service was friendly. The shop is clean but still gives that old west funky vibe. The Old San Francisco roaster in the back is on display, gorgeous and actively roasting beans. This place was recommended by the local hotel The Silverland as a place to get a warm breakfast and coffee. It has a limited breakfast as it is more of a coffee shop which was fine. I got a large coffee with cream and it was very good once you get used to the flavor of the coffee. Breakfast was a waffle combo (scrambled eggs with grated cheese and bacon) the eggs were excellent, I liked the grated cheese, the bacon has an excellent smokey flavor but was a bit over cooked (dry) and the waffle was over cooked, very dry and crumbly, didn't really taste like waffle batter either. Great environment, friendly staff, good selection. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and made me feel very welcomed. Upon asking about their roasted beans, she offered me a sample of their coffee of the day. But what makes me feel bad to say that the cappuccino I got, wasn't as expected. The milk foam floating on the top, not so great tasting espresso shot, and the presentation was a let down for me. I'm pretty sure they have some really good drinks and coffee beans in their menu. Hopefully next time I'm in Virginia City, I'll try some of that and raise the rating to a 5 stars. Again, please read the first three sentences...
