Virginia City is such a great place. It takes you back to the old Western days. On weekends the locals dress in period costume. The Bucket of Blood has been owned by the same family for over 80 years and most the time The Comstock Cowboys play there on the weekends. Get there early to get a seat!! It's worth it!! See the amazing views all around, the wild horses and gorgeous mountains! Go into St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church if you want to sit by yourself for a moment and look at the beauty inside. The Ponderosa Mine Tour is very intetesting. The cemeteries are so historic and tell of many short lives in that time period. The only negative is the town basically shuts down at 6 p.m. on the weekends except for a few places like Red Dog Saloon and Bucket if Blood and I haven't found a place to really have a good meal. There's a few barbeque places where you eat outside but they close early as well. Great 1$ hotdogs and things like that. Pizza and bar food at Red Dogs too. So many other things to do but it's a MUST to visit if you're...

Barney Fife cops in the town with nothing to do but give out parking tickets for $195. Evidently they voted to charge this absolutely ridiculous amount of money just recently and low and behold the cops are now all over town looking for tiny infractions to raise revenue, praying on tourists struggling to find a parking spot. When I returned to my car the guy next to me who also had a ticket pointed at mine. We both tried to figure out what we had done wrong because it didn't say "No Parking". There was around 12 cars with parking tickets just in that general area. They were also camped out at each end of the town nailing anyone driving in above the 20mph limit which drops well before you get into the town. Total speed trap. This is a tiny town and yet the cops were all over the place looking for any tiny thing a tourist might do wrong. You want to cost the businesses in your town tourism then this is the way to do it. I used to take visiting friends and family to see the town all the time....

Just wanted to say that Virginia City’s public statement of not tolerating racism, following the racist tirade by the Cusack- Miller family at Hot August Nights, is disingenuous at best. The city has condoned blatant political signage since Trump, sells offensive trinkets belittling Black Americans, and gives off a feeling of unease, so much so, that we have stopped going there and don’t recommend it to our guests. If Virginia City’s leaders are serious about portraying VC in a positive light, they had better dig deeper into the not even thinly veiled racism in the town and eradicate it. Virginia City will lose more than Hot August Night income and all the effort over the years to build it up will have...

The Virginia City Visitor Center is a great place to star a visit of the Old Western cute gold mining town Virginia with many of its original buildings still standing today. You can easily spend a full day visiting the many bars, restaurants, candy and souvenir stores along the Main Street and many original homes from the time. There are many details to pay attention to while strolling the old western style wooden sidewalks. People are generally friendly, but the city can be crowded on weekends and holidays. By all means worth a visit while in Nevada.

This is my second time here, it was about 25 years ago, however not much has changed. Was disappointed on the way the town looked, houses around the area are unkept and in need of some serious remodeling and tlc. We went on a Friday morning most store didnt open till 11 and even then, we were told most store owners are retired so, they are in no real hurry to be there. The store that were opened, over priced.

Our previously planned vacation here for later this year has been canceled due to the discovery of a disturbing video on TikTok depicting extreme racism. The lack of intervention by any bystanders suggests that the entire town may be complicit in this type of behavior. It is deeply saddening and disappointing that such incidents continue to occur in the present day.
