What a joke. The (only?) waitress took our drink orders and eventually came back to take our food order. I ordered a burger and she was on to the next person before I was able to tell her I wanted it medium rare. When I was able to ask for it to be cooked properly she said that the kitchen would only cook burgers medium well. I started re reading the menu as she took the next order of the next person in the group, a vegetarian who failed to order a mushroom Portobello burger (they were out) and a taco salad (beans were cooked with bacon), he finally settled on a garden salad. Two club sandwiches with avocado were ordered, the menu said chicken or turkey.. I guess that is cook's choice because the waitress never bothered to ask. It came back around to me and I tried to order a Ruben, no luck they were "out", I contemplated the BLT with avocado but wasn't really feeling it. She tried to convince me that it didn't matter that the burger was cooked in a way I find distasteful and I would be okay with it, but I decided to grab something to eat later on while we were walking around.
The cook's surprise came out with avocado hard as a rock, the first bite came back with teeth marks in it. Glad I didn't go for that... She came around to ask how things were and then went to get more avocado only to come back to say that the only avocados they had were not ripe, offered another sandwich, but it seems the rest of the table had learned their lesson. One child struggled through chicken strips that were as hard as a rock and the other ate around the burned bits of a grilled cheese. If you've ever cooked a grilled cheese for a child you'll know what an issue this is.. If you haven't, trust me, it's not good. As everyone else was eating she came back and said that the kitchen had finished their prep and was offering Rubens. Which is it, the kitchen isn't ready to cook what is on the menu or you ran out? Either way, I decided to eat elsewhere.
At the end of the meal the check wasn't split like she said she would, the defective avocado club was left on the bill, and adding injury to insult she went ahead and added gratuity for us.. How nice.
Try the Palace Saloon. Friendly staff and the Ruben, onion rings, and mojito were all better...
Read moreI want to like this establishment after the reopening in 2024 but I've never had a good experience ordering a drink at the bar. This past Saturday I waited about 10 minutes (with no acknowledgement of my presence) to place an order for a common light beer that they didn't have so I settled for something else and also ordered an ice cream. The beer was set in front of me and I waited another 10 minutes for the ice cream to be told that the ice cream wasn't working. I had not yet touched the beet. The bartender then said it'll be $7 for the bottle Coors. At that time I had had it and politely told the bartender that I wanted my entire order or nothing. After all, I really just wanted an ice cream and ordered the beer to be polite. The bartender screamed at me that she'd trespass me if I didn't pay for the beer, so I turned around and walked out as she continued to scream at my back. I will definitely not be back. 2 stars because the place looks great otherwise it...
Read moreIf I could I would not even give one star. The hostess Bonnie gets 5 stars. We stopped just now for lunch and were seated on the smaller side and crammed in a table with no room to move. We asked if we could move to the larger room where there was more room, it was cooler and music playing. Bonnie nicely moved us but was stopped by another waitress who demanded what she was doing. Bonnie explained what we requested and was scolded that they can't do want customers want. I said well I sit here or we go elsewhere. We were seated but no one waited on us. The nasty waitress even stood to the side and glares at us. Needless to say we are eating at another place up the street. Bonnie was awesome. The rest...
