Dow Park is a great place to take the kiddos to for some fun. The playground could use just a tiny bit of TLC is a couple spots, but for the most part, it is plenty safe and functional. There are also restrooms (a big plus) and a splash pad nearby. There is also pavilion close by with plenty of seating if you wish to picnic and continue playtime for the kids. There is a nice trail for walkers with plenty of shade along the path. You know what, there is just a lot out at this park. You just have to weigh the risk of driving through Deer Park. In my opinion, the entire city is a speed trap. If you take E. San Augustine from Beltway 8 your going to pass through speed limits that go up and down from approximately 30 to 40 and the police will get you if you go over. I know this speed trap well (I've got family that lives there). They've never gotten me but I've seen them catch a lot. They like to make teenagers sit on the ground when they pull them over, so young...
