Bedner's Farm is a family farm, started in 1960 by Arthur and Henrietta Bedner. The couple came from Pittsburgh to Florida and began commercially farming bell peppers and cucumbers. They started out in Broward but development pushed them up to farmland off of Atlantic Avenue near Florida's Turnpike. By 1980 they were farming 1,500 acres. Bedner's Farm is still family run today by Arthur and Henrietta's three sons, their spouses, and grandchildren. Through the years the Bedner's picked up more land and in 2010 they opened Bedner's Farm Fresh Market which offers produce and other groceries along with family friendly activities that include seasonal strawberry, tomato, pepper, and sunflower you pick, homemade ice cream, a petting zoo, tractor rides, gem mining, and an annual fall festival. They host school groups so that they can teach children where their food comes from.
I have been to Bedners Farm West Boynton Beach location many times to pick strawberries and enjoy their activities with my family and friends. Today I was driving through the part of Delray Beach called the Artists Alley, a one block area off Lake Ida Road east of Swinton and west of Federal Highway, and came upon Bedner's second location which opened in 2015. It is in a building painted with a bright mural that makes it a perfect fit for this eclectic artsy part of Delray Beach. Bedners decided to open this location to service all of the people who live in east Delray. Produce is trucked in from the farm out west and they also sell orchids, fresh herbs, prepared food like soups, sandwiches, and salads, cheese, raw honey, fresh squeezed orange juice, pantry items, and beer and wine. The emphasis is on locally produced food, organic, and non GMO. I did however pick up some South Carolina peaches.
Bedner's is really on top of your safety for Covid. They handed out gloves to me before I entered the store. This is the first place I have been to that gives everyone gloves. You have to wear a mask inside and all cashiers are behind plexiglass.
This store isn't the largest farm stand I have been to but I love the Bedner legacy in this area. There is a touching tribute to Arthur and Henrietta at the check out. Also at the checkout where some really cool African baskets that I coveted. I may have to go back for that. It is always great to have a place to get fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables, especially in the...

Read moreBEDNERS is a family bringing quality I had not seen before. We all have room for improvement but the quality in here is generally very high. The first time I went to the Boynton store and tasted their food it made me question whether I had ever tasted a tomato before.😅 I would love to see better prices in apples and grapefruit, bigger selection of good priced berries, good size beets regularly, seeded watermelon and ripe pineapples, and if not stretching good fresh coconut water to close in the paradise either organic or sustainable but I believe this is their overall standard. But, altogether it is a clean, home like, beautiful produce, great pleasant people with freshness in mind. No one can be perfect in all things and at all times and every store may have special areas that compliment each other. But, I’m seriously in love with Bedners. An amazing place no...
