What an incredible happy hour! This might be the best sushi food happy hour in Delray Beach. The sushi was very fresh and the drinks were fun, too. The Yakitori was also a highlight. I really enjoyed the salmon avocado roll. Unlike other places, they don’t decrease the size of the order on these happy hour specials. The music is also light and fun. This place has music and sound that is just buzzy enough that you feel you have privacy, but is not so loud that you can’t hear your company. This is also right on Pineapple Grove and across the street from the Mystery Bookstore. Yama Japanese Restaurant is a good night out!

I am so pleasantly surprised! Almost shocked!!! They are across the street from Akira Back and have better sushi. šŸ£ Friendly staff and cute location with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The Toro tuna šŸ£ is perfect! I want more. Volcano roll with baked spicy Kani was delicious! Yum! Spicy Yama roll was greatness! Great hamachi jalapeƱo. Loved the chicken teriyaki. Legitimately loved! Wasn’t just the regular but instead it felt like it was actually grilled. Tom yum soup if you’re in the mood for spicy soup. 🄣 Street parking and also garage parking. Big fan! We’ll be back!

Was looking for a spot around town and saw there were a few open seats at the bar so sat down. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. Strangely, the somewhat chaotic service actually added to my enjoyment of the experience. A few notables: the atmosphere by the bar and kitchen has an authentic Japanese vibe (as somebody who has lived there), many of the staff in the kitchen are Japanese and speak Japanese, the food is excellent and fresh, the prices are reasonable. Worthy of particular mention is the matcha tiramisu special they had, which was excellent.

I have eaten at Yama or gotten take out from here at least 50 times ( I've worked down the street for a few years). And I have to say, the service and food has gotten worse and worse during the last few months.

Firstly, the waitstaff and management used to be really nice and great to interact with, but about a year or two ago they hired one girl who has the biggest attitude I have ever encountered, unfortunately she seems to consistently work the weekday lunch shift, so I have to deal with her often.

Secondly, they have great lunch specials, but they keep changing them without notice and then act clueless when your bill is suddenly much higher than you expected. One of the deals was a list of inexpensive rolls that are priced at $5 or $6 each for lunch, and come with a free miso soup if you order two from the list. However, the list of rolls has apparently been changing, because lately when I go to place my order, rolls that WERE on the list are no longer included in the lunch special. They don't advertise or disclose the changes, and then just charge you a higher price. One would think if they took something off a lunch menu, that had been on for several years, they'd have the foresight to say "hey, just so you are aware, that is no longer included in the lunch deal". My usual order is a spicy salmon or crab roll and a vegetable roll (arguably the most inexpensive roll for them to make). However, at some point the vegetable roll was removed from the lunch menu, and I was charged $10 for it, when it had been $5 for the past 2 years. Additionally, I didn't get the miso soup, because the vegetable roll was no longer a part of the lunch roll list, even though it was double the price it used to be they would not honor the miso soup with the purchase of 2 lunch rolls.

I am a reasonable person, I understand restaurants are allowed to change or discontinue menu items or specials, it just needs to be acknowledged. For the past year, their lunch menu wasn't on their website at all, and I had to rely on third party menu websites to see the lunch specials. Only recently did they add the lunch specials to their official website, and even then it has taken several months to update some of the changes.

After 3 years of being a loyal customer, I will not be back for the mediocre sushi, constantly changing prices, bad attitudes...

Best sushi in Palm Beach County HANDS DOWN. I never write reviews but I really feel like these folks deserve it.

I grew up here in South Florida and my parents have a combined total of sixty years in the culinary business, so when it comes to fish, I've had a great education. The first thing I noticed when chef handed me my order over the bar is the stunningly good quality of the fish Yama gets---they get the best fish you can possibly find down here. I'm talking Nobu quality fish at prices that regular people can afford. I ordered the sake toro (salmon belly) nigiri and the chef torched it for me ever so slightly to render the fat-rich piece of fish and I am not exaggerating when I say that it literally melted in my mouth. The staff is very knowledgable and my server told me that some of the younger members have even gone to Japan and Korea to study the cuisine. I've had Korean BBQ from them as well and it is outrageously good.

If you love sushi then this is your spot. No other Japanese restaurant in the county is even in...

I've been a customer for over ten years, even back when they were in Lake Worth location. I cannot emphasize enough how satisfying their meals are here. Very professional and polite service, a cozy atmosphere, and reasonable prices. If you're lucky enough to catch their happy hour specials, it's like hitting the jackpot.

I recommend the Naruto Maki, Beef Negimaki, Dragon Tail Roll, Salmon Sunset Roll, Dolsat Bibimbap or even their fried rice! If you're a sushi fan, ask for their seasonal fish-- they sometimes feature sushi that you don't normally find at other restaurants.

There's definitely a reason why me and my family always go back here, and it's because they've never disappointed us in all these years, which is very impressive. I HIGHLY recommend...
