LEGIT REVIEW HERE!!! So this was our first escape room experience... and we had the bar set high after watching enough escape room horror movies.... well, this is how it went. We were greeted with a sign on the door sharing covid precautions. (Bravo) one group in the lobby at a time. And you do the escape room with ONLY your group. It was $120 plus tax for the 60 minute rooms and I highly suggest you visit their website and book ahead of time!!! (Side note - this is one of, if not the only, escape room in the Destin area that allows children under 9) The amazing fella up front with the fun hair and glasses let us know that the doll room is the easiest at 30 minutes(50%+ solve rate). The zombie lab room was 60 minutes and only a 15% solve rate. So we went big. You did have to have your temp taken, but he told my kids that he was checking the size of their brain to see if they had a chance at solving the puzzles. He almost had me fooled, he was really convincing lol. The staff had their Masks on the whole time too.
Tip - they DO take your phone, so don't go if you're expecting a life changing phone call.
They brought us back to the room after chatting and explained how everything worked. They showed us what not to touch... things you can tell had been nearly ripped off the walls.... it's beyond me how people ignore "do not touch" signs and rip light switches and thermostats off the wall. Anyways, I won't give any hints, but the puzzles are FUN. It was really the first time we HAD to work through something as a family and it was a good growing experience. Some of the props were broken, but that's also due to jerk people not taking care of things that don't belong to them. We did ask for a hint and they delivered that as well!
Needless to say, we failed, but they did let us know that we made it REALLY FAR considering it was 2 adults and 2 kids and our first time, so that felt better! We worked really hard, worked as a team, and had an amazing time! May have been the best night of the trip.
Big thanks to the 2 amazing guys working at 8pm on March 29th! They know their stuff and are incredibly passionate!
Tip - this escape room is located INSIDE of Harbor Walk... you don't just pull up to a building and walk in. It's $10 to park, and as of 3/29/21, Google Maps ask you to turn into a construction road. Plan on getting there 30 minutes before your scheduled time, as it takes time to park in the huge lot or the garage, walk, and find it. (All the way at the end on the inside) If you park inside the garage, the doors are not marked well and it can be confusing to figure out where you come out or how to get there.
All in all, AMAZING and highly recommended from me and my family. I see how we all work under pressure, the guys who work there are a joy, and the puzzles are definitely brain teasers. I'll also say, it's not all puzzles. If you don't know some general trivia knowledge in the zombie room, you won't be in the 15%! We'll be back to...
Read moreWe visited Gulf Coast Escape Room on June 3, 2025. We previewed all the rooms, times, party numbers, etc on their website while we were having dinner which tells you the difficulty rating and scariness rating. We ended up choosing the Doll Room due to when we could get there. We wanted to do one that night, and more than half of our 6 person party was terrified of the thought of a 9/10 scary factor doll room. Ironically, the supposedly possessed doll Annabelle was still mysteriously missing from whatever tour they had taken her on, which just added to the scary factor for us. Anyway, we booked the room with no issues, and left for Harborwalk Village. I think you’re supposed to pay to park there, but we didn’t pay (you pay as you leave, and we were pretty much the last people there as we left). The two girls working the Escape Room were fantastic, but in our own excitement/nervousness, we didn’t get their names. We didn’t wait long, and the girls told us exactly why we were waiting and how much longer it would be. The tall spunky brunette was our assistant and told us everything to expect when we went in, and even added to our nervousness with fun little “facts” about the doll room history. When she opened the fire, it was super deadly, but she told us to just take a minute and let our eyes adjust to the single red light bulb. We eventually unlocked little flashlights and backlights, but the room stays pretty dim throughout. We ended up using all 3 hints, but our attendant came in quickly and gave us just the right amount of hint to get us back on track. The last core gives you the code to the door to escape, and we literally escaped in the last 5 seconds. We had a great time, and any negative reviews for this place are just people being ridiculous. We thoroughly emitted ourselves and the employees who helped us just made the experience better. We will absolutely return next time...
Read moreDisappointed. This was a birthday gift for my daughter. After paying $118 for the 4 of us to do an escape room for the 1st time, I was in tears within the first 5 minutes of being in the alice room. The girl (dark hair olive conplexion) did not explain anything other than how to use the radio and call for help. We had no idea what to do. After wasting 15 minutes trying to figure it out.
When we finally asked for help a man came in and explained we needed to unlock the boxes in order to find clues. After 30 minutes we were finally in the 1st locked box. 30 minutes wasted out of 60 just to try to figure out what we were supposed to be doing!! He finally explained the object of the game. He looked at me and said "I need to talk to you when you guys are done!" and didnt seem happy about. So now im also worried I did something wrong. After it was all said and done I asked him several times "what did u need to talk to me about?" He said never mind. Then they had the nerve to ask us for a photo. I said "no thank you".. I was so upset. But, being it was my daughters birthday I caved but it was not a memory I care to remember!!
I cried on my way home apologizing to my daughter that her birthday present "bombed" and all she wanted to do was an escape room.
We never would have successfully completed the room if the Male worker hadn't stayed in the room with us (after asking for help 4x) basically telling us what to do.
**note: we arrived 45 minutes early so staff had plenty of time to explain the ins/outs of how to do an escape room, but instead we spent our time in the lobby. Wish I could make up the time and $$ spent to my...
