(8/14/25-8/15/25) Snuba diving was such an amazing experience!! We got to dive down 20 feet and were able to see lots of amazing wildlife, including many different species of fish, large and small crabs, and a jellyfish! (Even without diving that far down, you have a choice of how far you’d like to go, and you will see things from any depth! I had a hard time equalizing my ears at first and was still able to see so much from where I was near the surface.) Rebecca was so knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and MOST importantly, made sure to keep us safe. We had to reschedule our trip after we’d already gone out to the jetties because the water was too rough to anchor that day, and certainly too rough to dive. There was a red flag called that day, 8/14, meaning that it is high hazard, high surf, and/or strong currents. (Thursday was the day we went originally, Friday is the day we actually got to dive.) I’m very glad she made the call to keep us safe rather than allowing us to dive anyway and risk being swept away by rip currents. She was very professional about it the ENTIRE time and made sure to fully explain the situation and update us periodically while it was happening. When we were ultimately unable to anchor, she sincerely apologized and made sure to offer us the choice of a full refund on our trips or to reschedule for the very next day at our same time slot, and we did! We additionally did NOT have to pay the $20 for parking after telling the parking staff politely that we were not able to take our trip that day and had to reschedule. We had an amazing time diving and snorkeling. Hailey, our diving instructor, was very knowledgeable as well and made sure to keep us safe and having fun the whole time. She even got me an empty shell to take home after hearing that I left my shell bag on the boat, which meant so much to me! I would recommend this experience to everyone and I will definitely be back to do it again in the future. Thank you guys for making our trip unforgettable!! (**I also would advise you take some of the previous negative reviews about this same situation that day (8/14) with a grain of salt, as they absolutely do NOT reflect the true professionalism of this company or...
Read moreI booked a snuba dive that I was REALLY looking forward to. It got cancelled due to lack of participants. That's not MY fault. They offered a reschedule but they only do it once a day so I couldn't reschedule for that same day. I was willing to extend my vacation an extra because I wanted to go so bad. Well they don't do snuba dive on Monday...... So, refund it is! Gr! Thus the 2 stars.
Then there's the snorkeling trip we booked. I had originally planned on snorkeling on my own with the help of the internet to guide me to the best self-guided snorkeling spots. But, as Destin is not exactly decorated with beautiful coral reefs, I thought using a local business for a guided snorkeling experience would bring us to the best of whatever there IS to be seen snorkeling. Nope. My son and husband and other nearby children found more on our own (just by accident) at Miramar beach than we found at TWO locations with Destin Snorkel as our guide. The mask they provided wouldn't stay sealed no matter how tight the mask was. The snorkels aren't "Dry" snorkels that keep water out for short dives. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because they did do some cruising around so that we had the chance of sighting some dolphins and sea turtles (which we did see). And because our tour time was so late in the day, they decided to cruise longer after the snorkeling so that we could all watch/have a sunset cruise. Which is usually a separate boat tour all of it's own. So we did get the perks of all the different cruises they offer (dolphin, snorkel, shelling, sunset) on this one trip. In summation: If you want to snorkel, your not missing anything if you just do it on Miramar beach. If you DO want to snorkel with Destin Snorkel - buy your own mask/snorkel. Even if it's...
Read moreOur experience with Destin Snorkel was shockingly unprofessional. Upon check-in, our two families—who booked separately, stayed in different hotels, and arrived 30 minutes apart—were aggressively confronted by an employee who insisted we would be charged a 20% gratuity simply because we knew another group. Despite making it clear we were not one group and had entirely separate reservations, they insisted on grouping us together just to force the tip.
When we questioned the logic and asked to speak to a supervisor, the situation escalated. A second staff member, who claimed to be the supervisor, came out—but instead of resolving the issue, she joined in and began yelling at us too, while the original employee continued to shout over her. It felt completely hostile and unnecessary.
We told them, “If you’re that desperate for a $23 tip, we’ll just pay it to move on.” But instead of accepting that and letting us board, they canceled our reservation on the spot and continued yelling. It was surreal.
To be clear—this was never about the money. We’re travelers who always tip generously when service is earned. What was unacceptable was the unprofessional behavior, the public scolding, and the aggressive way they treated us over something that should’ve been calmly addressed or simply clarified.
If this is how Destin Snorkel chooses to handle customer concerns—by yelling and canceling bookings instead of resolving things respectfully—then they’ve lost our business for good. I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone looking for a positive and professional...
