Old St. Mary's was a beautiful venue for our daughter's wedding. We're members of a large suburban Catholic parish, with a large contemporary beautiful church building, but our daughter wanted to be married in a classical church building.

We are very glad that she and her now-husband made that choice. Besides being extremely photogenic, many of our guests commented that they had never seen a church like this in the United States, only in Europe. The non-Christian guests at the wedding who had never been in a church before said it looked like something out of a movie.

The wedding organizers at the church were good to work with. There is a substantial amount of paperwork involved to get married at a church that is not your home parish, but everything...

They have a wonderful Mass every weekday at 12:15 sharp. It's a short "workers Mass" and is complete by 12:55 at the latest, so there's no reason for any Catholics working downtown Detroit to miss the Mass. The Church itself is steeped in the history of the city, and is well worth visiting to look around even if you are not Catholic. If you want to just look at the amazing architecture (or say a rosary before Mass) doors are open during the weekdays at 11:00, and stay open until 2:30 after the Mass. Note for sightseeing: There is a Eucharistic adoration after the 12:15 Mass on Fridays and many stay for the hour or so long adoration, this makes it difficult for someone who just wants to sightsee to photograph and explore without disrupting...

Beautiful church!! We had our wedding here last Saturday (21 sept 2019), and everything was perfect! Randy did an excellent job organizing everything and making sure the wedding went smoothly. The bride's quarters upstairs were great! There was water and Faygo pop which came in handy between pictures and the ceremony. Everything went smoothly! Old saint Mary's is an excellent parish, even for weekly masses or holy days of obligation. I highly recommend anyone who practices the catholic faith to visit this church at least once! You won't be...

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful churches designed in honor of Our Lord's Mother....a NOTE to the reviewer (uncle chuckles)...after walking around the church perhaps you could kneel down before Our Lord and give him a minute of your day...also too few of those who say they love God esp. Catholics attend Holy Mass here in the heart of Detroit...03-30-18 uploaded some photos taken during Good Friday Faure Requiem

1841 German Catholic Marvel. Beautiful inside and out. Spiritually there are daily masses at 12:15 and on Sunday at 8:30, 10:00 & 12:00. The 10 o'clock mass is in Latin and confession is before every mass. The church also has special concert events every month on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 2pm. There is free guarded parking for those going to mass and don't forget to give when the plate is passed.
