My first experience has been a challenge for these reasons: (1) HOURS: Their website says they’re open until 5pm but Google says they’re closed every day. This required some research to confirm. Please take responsibility for managing your business data on Google. More importantly... (2) MISLEADING SIGNAGE: Your sign at the Dillon Marina says you are 600 feet East. However, after walking 600 feet (I paced it) I came upon yet another sign saying that it was an additional 400’. Since your location is not visible one would assume that sign is also inaccurate. Furthermore, by now, one can’t help but wonder what other things may be misrepresented or mismanaged. I did find that only the second sign is correct. So you’re actionally 1,000 feet from the sign that says 600 feet. (3) INCONVENIENT ACCESS: The above-mentioned sign is after having already walked 500 to 2,000 feet from the nearest parking space. So be prepared to carry your cooler and supplies up to 3,000 feet (1/2 mile). There is no other viable parking... I checked. All the close parking is clearly marked with “No Parking” signs. (4) CORRECTIVE ACTION: Personally, I don’t mind walking... but some people might. What I mind is the misrepresentation. It is what it is... but (a) the sign DOES need to be corrected. And (b) the business hours need to be accurately posted. My personal preferred access is to ride my bike via Gold Run road and park it on the beach (however, there are no bike racks). Or go to the Frisco Marina where there is much better access. If my next experience is better... or if I receive a reasonable response from management... I’ll consider updating my review. Hopes this helps all involved. Thanks for reading!

Had a fantastic experience with SUP Colorado, Lake Dillon yesterday. We called several businesses in the area and this place was the only one to answer right away and let us know that they did indeed have walk-up availability. We rented a Tandem kayak for $80 and had lots of freedom to paddle wherever we pleased. The lake is quite large, but the wind wasn’t bad for us. We even saw a river otter and pups in the rocks along the shoreline. Towards the end of our day we realized we had made quite a bit of distance and it would take us a long time to paddle home. We called the number on our dry bag as instructed, but no one answered. Instead we called the original sales number again and we got help right away once more. They kindly drove a pontoon over to rescue us and the boat. We were very pleased with our adventure and the conversation Javi and first mate (and budding pirate) Santi brought on our ride home. Would happily book here again!

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Me and 9 other girls reserved paddle boards for the Frisco Tri, well in advanced before the tri. Not only did we all get charged different amounts to reserve our individual paddle boards, but we all got email confirmations prior to the tri. My sister, who reserved our boards even talked to the owner Dan, on the phone the day before the tri and verified our reservations. The day of the tri, we showed up on time to get our boards, and saw that there were not enough boards for all of us. There was also a family of 4 that came to get their boards, and there were not enough boards for all of them either. We approached Dan and he was very defensive and saying we were not on his "list", a list that was a picture on his phone. Me and my sister were not on his list and we had talked to him the day previous and he verbally confirmed our reservation with us. He started making excuses as to why they did not have our boards and was blaming it on a disconnect between their "communication center" and him. He then sent off his other employee to grab our boards from their shop. He stated he would be back in 15 min, however it was well over 15 min and the race started before we even received our boards from them. Once we finally received our boards from Dan, we had to start 16 min late, and the race director was nice enough to adjust our times. The race director was also upset that this company was not delivering our boards. Every time we tried to approach Dan to get the situation figured out and ask if they could refund us all or part of the cost of the board he became visually upset, defensive and rude and would not work with us on this issue. Instead, he was standing there taking pictures of the race and ignoring us and the family of 4. After one of the girls in our group went to talk to him directly she asked for full day use of the paddle board and to get a full refund for not delivering our boards. He stated we would have to talk to the shop owner, Javier, in order to get this done. We've contacted the shop multiple times through email and phone calls and they have not refunded us any of our reservation cost. They are avoiding the situation, instead of dealing with it appropriately like any professional business should. Dan was not a good representation of his company, I feel like this issue could have been resolved fairly easily and he could have been more professional. I would never rent through this company again. If you are considering renting through them for the tri next year I would literally go with any other company before I would give my business to this...

Visitors Beware:

Unless you are an Olympian or compete in triathlons, proceed with caution. I can’t imagine that this place is any stranger to tourists, as the Dillon Reservoir and Breckenridge are extremely popular vacation spots, yet my friends and I received NO WARNING about the high winds, waves, nor magnitude of the lake itself. What a negligent business policy.

Four able-bodied twenty-six year olds, including myself, got stuck on the far side of the lake which I can only describe as a wind tunnel. We paddled for 20 minutes straight and covered no distance, as the wind kept pushing us back into the waves. Luckily, one of our friends is very fit and has a lot of experience paddle boarding, and was able to make it back and explain the situation. It still took her over an hour to get back with no breaks and nonstop paddling! She was then met with the most disrespectful hateful man, who shamed us for not being able to paddle back, saying things like “I thought you were with a group of 80 year olds or some kids or something” with a horrible look on his face and a judgmental tone. How eloquent. He tried to downplay our situation and the distance the wind carried us. I have never experienced such a condescending man who clearly takes pleasure in shaming women.

He continued to make rude and nasty comments, and made no effort to see if the rest of us needed help. Our saving grace was the fact that we drove an SUV that could hold the boards; otherwise we would’ve been stranded with no way to get back. Upon reading other reviews, the company claims that safety is the top priority, but clearly that is not the case.

On top of all this, I have never seen paddle board rentals that are this expensive for only two hours; It cost $60 per board. The only redeeming quality is that the boards were ready for us when we arrived, and they were at least understanding of our late return time given the situation.

If you rent from here, I hope you enjoy vigorously paddling for two hours straight with no enjoyment. Not to mention the long walk from the closest parking spots.

Steer clear of this business and their horribly rude employees, price gouging, negligence, and disregard for...

Is it possible to rate less than a star? My Wife, daughter, son in law and 2 granddaughters got a VRBO ! Cool! Right by the water - well there is a bit of a walk!

So, We walked and carried a paddle board. We arrived on the beach to rent another board and or perhaps a kayak. We arrived at the beach and my grand daughter (10 years old) asked the lady if we could use or rent one of the life jackets they had. The female replied "no you may not" a bit surprised she asked again and received the same short and a little snotty "no you may not" . About 2 minutes later the man came out of the shipping crate they use for a rental house and asked ( again, in a very short way) "Can I help you?" to which we replied "No you may not" . It seems appropriate since they had already decided that we "may not" use or rent their equipment. At that point the man said "the public beach is that way" and gave us the bums rush. We walked a short ways down the beach to get some distance from what was becoming a escalating situation. While sitting in the shade from the boats that are owned by private citizens it dawned on us that he had no right to chase us out of there so we set up a couple towels and let the girls play in the water. After a few minutes, we started talking to some locals. Super nice folks who informed us that he had no right to chase us away from that beach. After the man saw us chatting with the locals, he immediately came over, said something like "there was a misunderstanding, sorry we got off on the wrong foot.. etc and offered to let us use any of the life jackets or other equipment they had. .. Somehow I do not think he would have made the effort unless he knew the locals and knew his B.S. would get reported to someone.. All in all a good trip - nice place and a good business but the owner(s) or at least the people the owner has working here really need to get a different job! They were rude, claimed ownership of things that were not theirs, AND lost business and reputation. Silly! Just be nice and if you can't be nice get the heck out of the line of business where you have to interact...
